Karl Rove damages president (The Fargo Forum)

From a very conservative newspaper! I sent them my LTTE yesterday -- perhaps they took it to heart. (Yeah, right . . . but still, who knows?)

(snip)

There always is a partisan element in most everything that goes on in Washington, but Rove's role in outing a CIA agent is far more serious than a political dirty trick. It is illegal to reveal the identity of a CIA agent. It is a violation of federal law to be part of a scheme that results in the identification of an agent. At this point in the federal investigation into Rove's activities, it appears that at the very least Rove is guilty of the latter. His lawyer said as much, and one reporter identified Rove as the leaker.

Partisan apologists are falling all over themselves defending the president and Rove. It won't wash. This thing stinks. Only the president can apply the disinfectant. The president's support (we count ourselves among his supporters) was derived in large part from his commitment to restore decency and accountability to the White House. The Rove mess puts that commitment to the test.

1. As If Bush Needed Any Help With His Destruction
He's a self-destructed man, after all.

3. Nice!!!!!
This is great to read. Thanks!

The more people (especially fed-up Republicans) who repeat "this is not partisan" the better, and the more people who hear it!

4. This is the part that I don't understand.
Rove is really hurting the President. Why are Republicans rallying around him? They should be putting his butt to the fire themselves instead of letting the Dems do it for them.

Until 1963...and then my Granduncle until the mid 70's

Was always conservative but had alot of integrity. It really sunk for a while, but seems to have gotten better in recent years!

6. Too bad the media doesn't investigate any more ...
or even keep their eyes open. If this media outpost did, Rovegate wouldn't be the first case of indecency and nonaccountability they would have known about. But at least they can see this one for what it is, at least re Rove, if not re Dubya.
