A Poverty of Dignity and a Wealth of Rage
A few years ago I was visiting Bahrain and sitting with friends in a fish restaurant when news appeared on an overhead TV about Muslim terrorists, men and women, who had taken hostages in Russia. What struck me, though, was the instinctive reaction of the Bahraini businessman sitting next to me, who muttered under his breath, "Why are we in every story?" The "we" in question was Muslims.

The answer to that question is one of the most important issues in geopolitics today: Why are young Sunni Muslim males, from London to Riyadh and Bali to Baghdad, so willing to blow up themselves and others in the name of their religion? Of course, not all Muslims are suicide bombers; it would be ludicrous to suggest that.

But virtually all suicide bombers, of late, have been Sunni Muslims. There are a lot of angry people in the world. Angry Mexicans. Angry Africans. Angry Norwegians. But the only ones who seem to feel entitled and motivated to kill themselves and totally innocent people, including other Muslims, over their anger are young Sunni radicals. What is going on?

1. Thomas Friedman, Zionist Liar
It's those angry Norwegians you have to watch out for. Friedman goes on to provide the usual crap pseudo-psychological explanations, perhaps forgetting that the Tamil Tigers aren't Sunni Muslims, and perhaps forgetting that Norway isn't overrun by an invading army of American or Israeli troops. As we have recently seen, a real expert has answered the question, and has determined the real reason for suicide bombing. Friedman is just providing more of his Zionist lies, part of a disturbing pattern. You can see why the United States has fallen into such a mess when disinformation agents like Friedman can pass for 'experts'.

4. There is a crisis in Islam
just as there is a crisis in Christianity and in other faiths. The crisis is between the fundamentalist branches of the faith and the liberal ones. Friedman talks of Sunni Islam not changing since the 12th century, of seeing Islam as morally superior to other faiths.

I don't know that much about Sunnis, except for the few I've met. They accepted me as Muslim, merely because I took the Shahada and meant it-they never criticized me for my dress or for the universal worldview of Sufism. Several came to my wedding, (in which scripture from the major faiths and a Native American chant were done), and their comments were all favorable.

I am sure that none of them were fundamentalists, though. I know none were Saudi. Saudi Arabia is where Wahhabism and other fundamentalist Islamic sects have their strongholds. Saudi Arabian oil money has bankrolled the spread of the ideas of this fundamentalist sect.
