Important to realize all this before it is too late for Venezuela
Important to realize all this before it is too late for Venezuela ... just like Iraq

I would like to send a message to the Venezuelan "middle class." My wife and I just watched a documentary called "A War in Words" (March 2005) about the ongoing war in Iraq ... experienced from the point of view of the Iraqi "upper middle class." The documentary centers around the Jarrar family, an Iraqi upper middle class family composed of engineers and "professionals" ... very much like the Venezuelan minority mid-to-upper class families ... living in wealthy urbanizations and sharing the same "admiration" for the USA.

As happened in Venezuela, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the US government's agency which finances pro-US-government-policy activity throughout the world, financed sectors of the pro-USA Iraqi middle and upper-middle classes for years. One of the several pro-USA Iraqi organizations which was financed by the NED is called "Free Iraq Foundation" ... which received (if my adding is correct) $850,380.00 between 1991 (when the Gulf War ended) and 2001, when the US was in the process of building its high-tech military command in Doha, Qatar.

(Publishers NOTE: It is important to realize that the building of the Doha US military base had been in progress prior to 9/11 ... and that, coincidentally, this same US military base served subsequent purposes: the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq ... and the potential invasions of Iran and Syria.) The Venezuelan mid-to-upper classes should keep in mind that sectors of their "class" have received substantial amounts of money from the NED for several years now, mostly after Chavez came into power. Some of their "class" of people are selling-out Venezuela to the US government ... just as some of the Iraqi middle class sold-out their own beloved country to the USA ... And look at the result!

According to the documentary, the vast majority of middle and upper-middle class Iraqi families now live abroad, mostly in Jordan, but also in other countries ... awaiting the time when Iraq will be safe again.
