SAY SAYONARA TO ABORTION By Ted Rall
SAY SAYONARA TO ABORTION By Ted Rall

NEW YORK--Now is a superb time to get that abortion you've been putting off.

Officially, Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' opinion of Roe v. Wade is "opaque," "mysterious," or--my favorite--just "unknown." But if I'm no genius, it doesn't take one to suss out how Roberts will vote when the next big abortion case hits his docket.

Three facts indicate that Roberts' confirmation spells the end of Roe v. Wade, the decision guaranteeing American women the right to an abortion

1. Majority of Women
fail to understand that the Religious Right consider plain, old ordinary BIRTH CONTROL PILLS to be a chemical ABORTION. Anything that MIGHT prevent a fertilized egg from implanting is abortion to them.

I sure hope women wake up before it is too late. Just remember the Bush Administration policy which says it ALL, "Abstinence ONLY until Marriage (even if you are 40!!!) and then "Faithfulness IN Marriage". I guess once you are married, if you don't cheat, then you will be willing to accept any and all children "god may give you." Where does BIRTH CONTROL come into play even when you ARE married according to Bush and the Religious Right?

2. Majority Report is just now discussing this
Talking about the right of married people to use contraception. All in relation to Roberts.

Can you believe that we're actually discussing this?!

3. Either he or his wife is infertile.........
hence the adoptions, but you can bet they'd have a boatload if they were able. And no, I can't believe we're discussing this. This CAN'T be happening. If these theo-fascists are allowed to put their agenda into practice, this country will be regressing into the 19th century.

It'll be "A Handmaid's Tale" come to life, only there won't be a happy ending.
