Novak: Ex-CIA Official's Remark is Wrong
Novak breaks his silence:

<snip>

A statement attributed to the former CIA spokesman indicating that I deliberately disregarded what he told me in writing my 2003 column about Joseph Wilson's wife is just plain wrong.

Though frustrated, I have followed the advice of my attorneys and written almost nothing about the CIA leak over two years because of a criminal investigation by a federal special prosecutor. The lawyers also urged me not to write this. But the allegation against me is so patently incorrect and so abuses my integrity as a journalist that I feel constrained to reply.

5. He's still taking shots at Wilson...
Look at the last paragraph..."No basis in fact"...pleeeeeze. Novak really thinks that Iraq tried to buy yellowcake from Niger. Are we all living in the same world. '

He justifies that it is to out Valerie Wilson, even though the CIA warned him that it might cause "difficulties"(his word) because she "may"(?) have already been outed by Aldrich Ames. Is this guy for real?

9. I am sitting at my desk at work with fumes coming out of my skull...
what a shill this guy is? I like how he will come out and "correct" Harlow, but he still won't talk about who his sources were. How can we believe this guy? Remember, Rehnquist is expected to step down.

7. incredible
That is to say, completely without credibility.

If Novak told me it was daytime, I'd have to go outside and look.

8. Novak's defense: "Nothing factually incorrect". That's the point, dick.
You correctly stated that Plame was CIA and outed her. If it was a wrong, you would be a factually incorrect traitor, instead of teh spot-on accurate traitor you are.

And check this shit out.

"I have previously said that I never would have written those sentences if Harlow, then-CIA Director George Tenet or anybody else from the agency had told me that Valerie Plame Wilson's disclosure would endanger herself or anybody."

Why not add, "But then again, I never asked. I just figured that if Karl Rove was leaking it, it was fit to print."

11. The CIA and this White House hate each other...
Read Seymour Hersh's book. The CIA was bitchslapped by this administration when it said anything even remotely true about Iraq. Novak knows where his bread is buttered.

12. So Novak blames it on the CIA for not telling him
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 09:50 AM by Inland
But the WH officials--who all knew that Plame's role was secret, since it was written right on the memo--get no blame from Novak. It's all the CIA's fault for NOT STOPPING HIM.

Well, we'll stop him now. There's no end of betrayals that this sort of excuse could cover. If Novak is blameless in this, then anybody can blow any cover for any petty political revenge and still claim "integrity".

13. Novak's inbox deserves to be flooded with questions.
Let's just send him an email with questions in it. No mean response to his article, just questions we would like answered...
