POLITICAL NOTEBOOK: Reid looks to be in Roberts' corner
Sen. Harry Reid has been pretty quiet about President Bush's Supreme Court nominee, John Roberts, perhaps because he doesn't want to jinx a good thing?

In a profile piece in the Aug. 8-15 issue of The New Yorker magazine, Reid compared Roberts to "his favorite" justice, David Souter, and told writer Elsa Walsh about Roberts' involvement in a Lake Tahoe lawsuit that Reid describes as "one of the biggest environmental victories in decades."

Roberts successfully represented the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency in a lawsuit regarding its building moratorium.

Reid also told The New Yorker he was surprised to hear Roberts discuss his view of Supreme Court precedents during his initial meeting with the nominee.

This is getting discouraging.

3. Big surprise
How long have I been telling everyone about Harry Reid now? Since what, January?

Worst Senate leader the Dems have ever chosen- and guaranteed to help them lose again in 2006.

Never thought I'd be pining for Daschle.... but for all his shortcomings, at least he didn't make loads of empty threats and then trun around and sell us (over and over) out at the first convenient moment.

4. but, he frames things well ...
... and chooses our battles carefully ...

:sarcasm:

is the word battles or battle?

other than Social Security (but, won't be surprised to see renegades on that issue) ... the Supreme Court should be the ultimate line in the sand ... (it should have been 11.7.2000 but 'we moved on' :freak: if not 2000 or 2002, then, certainly the 2004 election, but 'we moved on') ...

it would help the cause if Reid et al would lead on Election Fraud and the stolen elections ... make it a center ring in this circus ... stealing elections is reason enough to deny an illegitimate administration's life-time appointees to the highest court, if nowhere else ...

it's the corruption which needs framing

confirmation will permanently ensconce what fraud has brought our Nation into our highest institution of justice; and, that will affect the Law of the Land, our lives, our freedom, our rights, etc., for years to come ...

the Founders must be rolling in their graves

6. Reid's vote
on the bankruptcy bill is all I needed to know which side his bread is buttered on. Support of a Corporatist like Roberts doesn't surprise me at all.
