"Sheehan: From pathos to nonsense" The smear continues...
The ultra-right editor of the San Diego Union-Tribune dutifully echos the RW talking points: Iraq is not about Israel OR oil so stop saying that! Casey volunteered so it's his fault. (let's get literal, literal...) The only thing missing is "Bush didn't kill her son, an Iraqi did." Have I mentioned today how much I hate these people?

Sheehan: From pathos to nonsense

By Robert J. Caldwell
August 21, 2005

To state the obligatory caveat first, Cindy Sheehan deserves the respect and sympathy that attend losing a son who died bravely in the service of his country. The pain and grief she feels over the death in combat last year of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan warrants the sympathy of all Americans, whatever their views on the Iraq war.

Now for caveat number two: Losing a son in Iraq may enhance Cindy Sheehan's newly celebrated "moral authority" to speak on the war but it confers no special standing for the validity of her views.

Cindy Sheehan camped outside President Bush's Texas ranch for more than two weeks demanding a meeting. Sheehan left late last week after her mother suffered a stroke.
Why add this latter stipulation? Well, because, to be blunt, Cindy Sheehan's proclaimed opinions on the Iraq war and related issues range from the incoherent to the just plain nutty.

Followed by the same old tired name calling. This writer is so two weeks ago.

2. Everybody I have talked to noticed that Rove must havesent out the talking
points on Cindy last Wednesday. Because by Thursday, all the RW talk radio clones has switched from being namby-pamby about her to being viscious. They all were repeating the "crazy", "insane", "lunatic", "incoherent", and "nutty" memes. What a bunch of robots.

4. When the town blowhard is losing his audience ...
All the regulars at the tavern where the conversation turns to politics and the discussion finally begins in earnest.

In comes one of the blowhards who has always been in the thick of the story-telling and bull-shipping ...

Only finally, the tavern crowd is on to him and when he launches into his version of reality more and more turn away, sip their suds, and keep talking to each other rather than give attention to the windbag.

Hey Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity!

Your audience is shrinking, your sermons to those remaining choir members are getting louder and sillier and those choir guys are starting to walk out in the middle of your formerly invincible rhetoric.

Whatcha gonna do about it now that your thoughts are old and tired?

Come on O'Reilly ... how ya gonna wrap yer loofah around this one?
