1. Well, this middle aged woman should be FEMA chief!
I can't do a worse job, that's for fuckin' sure.

I paid attention on Friday and Saturday and heard the conditions underwhich levees (which, btw, is how I learned of them at all) will breech.

Bush* and Co. ought to watch the Weather Channel. Its educational!

2. Unbelievable -- the "Government" didn't foresee a Levee failure
Well I was in New Orleans 30 years ago -- and the driver who took me to the airport was talking about how the levees kept the water out and if New Orleans took a direct hit from a hurricane "everybody" was expecting a levee failure.

Also from the drills and the models they knew that it would take 72 hours to evacuate the whole city --

This isn't monday morning quarterbacking -- most of us could see this coming and so many here at DU were asking why isn't X Y and Z being done.

I don't know what the needless death toll will be but I expect it to be high -- and bushie and his criminal gang is responsible for every single needless death.

FEMA hasn't done a good job -- they have done a horrible job -- in fact there is no word to describe the piss poor job done.

Basic human needs were not met -- FOOD, WATER, SHELTER & SECURITY.

People died because these needs were NOT anticipated by jerks in charge.

If the Democrats don't start hammering on this as soon as they return THEN we had better start our own efforts to get them to realize that this is not how human beings are supposed to be treated.

3. No doubt it was just a "failure of intelligence." Nobody to blame.
Nobody's fault.

4. Bullshit. They IGNORED the engineers who predicted levee failure.
