Max Sawicky (MaxSpeak): Drown Grover Norquist in a Bathtub
Congress is back, and there's still time to call some do-overs on legislation before the budget is finalized.

* Bankruptcy reform. Lots of people are newly bankrupt. It will be a while before they manage to see a lawyer and go through the proper hoops. Do we really want to drop more onerous requirements on their heads over the next twelve months?

* The estate and gift tax. I haven't talked about it much here, but one finding in the empirical lit that is as solid as these things get is the positive impact of the tax on charitable donations. Conservatarian economoids love price signals. The repeal of the tax would be a huge change of price signal, in favor of bequests to parties other than charitable institutions. Is this the ideal time to flash a big red light on charitable giving through bequests?

1. Grover Norquist died today..
in a freak bathroom accident. He was found upended in his bath tub in a mere four inches of water, apparently drowned.

4. Megadonors
usually give their big bucks to Ivys, prep schools, art museums, and anything that'll name a wing after them.

It's us little people who keep the homeless shelters afloat.

I read this in a study somewhere some years back and wish I could remember the source.

5. Repeal The * Tax Cuts For The Wealthy
Reinstate the estate tax.

This should be the first order of business.
