The assault will come from the right.
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 01:43 AM by kansasblue
We sit and wait and complain about the lack of leadership from the Democratic party. We hear that there might be a strategy of non-confrontation as Bush himself is doing plenty of damage to his image without the Democrats saying a word. A Democratic assault would just convert that all to partisan politics in the public eye. So only the far left remains making noise. The "libs", the "anti-war nuts".

But building behind the scenes is a major breach. Hopefully it will catch the administration by surprise. It won't be from the far left nor the Democratic party. Even the centralist are sitting on their hands. No the breach will come from the far right. No, not the religious right, but the true conservative far right. Those who support balanced budgets and frugal government. Those that support reasonable isolationism. Those that support small government, state's rights, constitutional check and balances, and ethical government.

The Democratic have plenty to complain about but their burn is equaled by that on the conservative right. As these quiet patriotic conservatives watch as the treasury is drained on an elective war. They see personal freedoms and the bill of rights ran over roughshod by the Patriot Act. The federal government continues to grow rapidly. Tax revenue is reduced, spending and pork are out of control. The president has never used his veto power to curb spending. Our founding father's wisdom of division of church and state is being ignored. The election equipment is suspect. And the media approaches centralized monopolies. These are not good times for a true conservative. Bush is not their kind of president. This group is lead by the likes of Pat Buchanan and rebel Senator Hagel and slowly their voices grow louder. My friends as we yell, email and protest to attempt to rally forces from the political center and the left (with only marginal success) I fear we must put our hope in the far right. If the country is to be saved our voices will need to join with theirs. For in this case Politics makes strange bedfellows and the assault will come from the right.

1. I never expected it any other way.
He HAS to be destroyed by his own.

I enjoyed watching Cokie Roberts' unhappiness on Letterman tonight.

2. Everything could change tomorrow.
Simply enough Republicans have to stand up in the House and Senate....and move accross the aisle. Those "true Republicans" as opposed to, say, Delay Republicans or Bush Republicans or Santorum Republicans....have to do it en masse. Don't telegraph the move and have the political pressure put on them by the RNC, but to move quickly to the Democratic Party. Suddenly, Democrats control the committees and move on investigations on all fronts. The media can expose the corruptness, simply by reporting on the investigations....Bush can be impeached or resign, but only if everyone connected with administration is kicked out too. Election fraud can be investigated and fixed.

Will it happen? Only if "true Republicans" really care about the State of this Union and have the guts to make the move.

I don't think we can wait any longer for them: start the revolution, comrades.

5. Well , it's obvious it's not coming from the dems or the left.
But you should probably include as a possible source, RayGun repubs. Not ultra-RW, but fiscal conservatives who believe, but won't say, that the chimps fiscal policies are killing the country. Or, what do you say to a Scalia who feels like he's been screwed by an ungrateful lower lifeform? Ultimately, it'll be arrogance that brings this group down.

7. "Our enemies will solve all our problems: we should wait for them ..
.. to act" seems to me a recipe for complete and utter ruin ...
