Arizone Republic: Utter failure (Editorial)
The words "slow," "ineffective" and "inadequate" have a new synonym: FEMA.

Just the mention of the Federal Emergency Management Agency used to be the sound of hope for victims of natural disaster.

No more. Americans and the world saw the agency's tardy response to the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.

1. Forget FEMA, its Bush who displayed a gross lack of Leadership...
He not only dropped the ball, he piucked it up and ran the wrong way... Give the guy back his PomPoms and send him to the sidelines where he belongs...QB my ass.

3. The Name Blame Game
Everyone involved in the Katrina debacle is somewhat to blame whether it be from the "slow to react" syndrome because of shock on the part of the Louisiana officials or just plain incompetence from the Bush administration. It is difficult to criticize someone else's responses to a situation like that unless you were there on the spot and I can't imagine anything more devastating than being in New Orleans during that weekend.

I do believe the major share of the blame should go to the Bushites, though. After all, they were viewing the disaster from the sidelines and were in a better position to make the critical decisions.

5. The Bushies weren't viewing the disaster from the sidelines...
They were too busy playing guitar, eating cake, buying shoes, watching Broadway shows, buying mansions... THAT's why they bear a large part of the responsibility for the slow response. The complete lack of attention to the matter.

6. Not bad for the AZ Republic.
The author even managed to mention Bush in an unflattering light.

Still, I think this talk of investigations just plays into their hands. The "investigations" will be a whitewash. We already know enough to demand that Bush fire Brown. And the fact that he won't ought do damn Bush.
