WaPo: Today in DC, Commandos in the Streets?
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 10:20 AM by McCamy Taylor
Wow, who would have thought that the Pentagon would put troops in the streets of DC today, one day before the biggest peace marches of the year are scheduled to begin in DC. Wonder what the troops will be doing. They aren't saying.

http://blogs.washingtonpost.com/earlywarning/2005/09/today_in_dc_com.html

Today, somewhere in the DC metropolitan area, the military is conducting a highly classified Granite Shadow "demonstration."

Granite Shadow is yet another new Top Secret and compartmented operation related to the military’s extra-legal powers regarding weapons of mass destruction. It allows for emergency military operations in the United States without civilian supervision or control.

A spokesman at the Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region (JFHQ-NCR) confirmed the existence of Granite Shadow to me yesterday, but all he would say is that Granite Shadow is the unclassified name for a classified plan.

1. Military state coming right up...
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 10:33 AM by Say_What
with the militarization of the police over the past decade all they need to do is give everyone the 'proper' authority and we'll experience what happened in Chile in 1973.

:scared:

2. Posse Comitatus?
I know it's on the chopping block, but it's still on the books as of right now.

Isn't it illegal to deploy troops on the streets of DC, under standing laws? bush didn't want to deploy active troops in NO because he'd have to invote the Insurrection Act, but he deploys them in D.C?

5. Imperial Amerika is governed by Imperial Will, "laws" on the books
mean NOTHING, except in very rare occasions where some window-dressing is required.

The Imperial Subiects of Amerika will remain in denial about this, until long after there is a chance to do anything about.

Pity those who will live to see Ameika in 2050 or 2100. A truly ugly nation, vene compared to this one, it will be.

4. It means the protesters will be infiltrated by plain clothes soldiers.
There are certain special ops types that alter their appearance so they look like anything other than military. Special ops anti terrorist teams in particular. Our people will have to be careful, this fills me with dread.

I remember Kent State! And Chicago! And Selma! They may try to provoke civil unrest & then clamp down everywhere. Please watch your asses my friends!

6. They were there during the DC anti-World Bank march two years ago
The Pentagon deploys plain-clothes military intelligence surveillance units every time there's a major demonstration, with any possibility of violence, in DC.

Don't let them freak you out. It's SOP for "force and installations protection" -- there are a lot of military offices and personnel around DC who they think need protecting from us "wild-eyed radicals."
It's a fact of life in our not-so-free-anymore country.

What's much more worrying is the exercise, and the fact that both 9/11 and 7/7 happened while similiar simulations were scheduled.

Oh well. I live all of 10 miles from DC, so if it goes boom, I'm toast anyway.

11. Great there w/be mass protest-but don't have a good feeling about
the infiltration part tomorrow--this has been SOP for a police force, some CIA during the 60's, but w/the Terrorist edict they round up anyone and just like in NYC during the RNC fed/local/infiltrators were the shit-disturbers-NOT the protesters. the usual, first create the chaos, then the confrontation...then fighting breaks out and so on...suddenly you are in jail-THEN the MSM presstitutes cover the 'negative' effect story of the Protest.
-the primary agenda of this administration and their followers is to smash free speech and free association (even with a permit!)AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE (in this country and any other currently under occupation)--they WANT us to be afraid ALL THE TIME-and mainly,
AFRAID OF "THEM" and what "THEY" can do to dissenters, translation: insurgents, that happen to be Americans.
-in the 60's my older sisters went through this, but even then, protests were more ad hoc, not as organized-nobody ever thought about having to obtain permits-you didn't bend over for 'the man' the more radical and progressive the energy of the protest.
-the changes (at a level more intense)that are just beginning to break surface in America are/will be more chaotic and treacherous in many respects than before--perhaps what was started in the 60's will come full circle one way or another by 2020.

Notice of September 21, 2005--Continuation of the National Emergency
With Respect to Persons Who Commit, Threaten To Commit, or Support
Terrorism

Presidential Documents

___________________________________________________________________

Title 3--
The President
<

Notice of September 21, 2005

Continuation of the National Emergency With
Respect to Persons Who Commit, Threaten To Commit, or
Support Terrorism

On September 23, 2001, by Executive Order 13224, I
declared a national emergency with respect to persons
who commit, threaten to commit, or support terrorism,
pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers
Act (50 U.S.C. 1701-1706). I took this action to deal
with the unusual and extraordinary threat to the
national security, foreign policy, and economy of the
United States constituted by the grave acts of
terrorism and threats of terrorism committed by foreign
terrorists, including the terrorist attacks in New
York, in Pennsylvania, and against the Pentagon
committed on September 11, 2001, and the continuing and
immediate threat of further attacks against United
States nationals or the United States. Because the
actions of these persons who commit, threaten to
commit, or support terrorism continue to pose an
unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States,
the national emergency declared on September 23, 2001,
and the measures adopted on that date to deal with that
emergency, must continue in effect beyond September 23,
2005. Therefore, in accordance with section 202(d) of
the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am
continuing for 1 year the national emergency with
respect to persons who commit, threaten to commit, or
support terrorism.

This notice shall be published in the Federal Register
and transmitted to the Congress.

(Presidential Sig.)B

THE WHITE HOUSE,

September 21, 2005.
