Cindy Sheehan (HuffPost): Last Weekend Karl Rove Said I Was a Clown
Last weekend, Karl Rove said that I was a clown and the antiwar movement was "non-existent." I wonder if the hundreds of thousands of people who showed up today to protest this war and George's failed policies know that they don't exist. It is also so incredible to me that Karl thinks that he can wish us away by saying we aren't real. Well, Karl and Co., we are real, we do exist and we are not going away until this illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq is over and you are sent back to the depths of whatever slimy, dark, and loathsome place you came from. I may be a clown Karl, but you are about to be indicted. You also preside over one of the biggest three ring, malevolent circuses of all time: the Bush administration.

The rally today was overwhelming and powerful. The reports that I was arrested today were obviously false. The peace rally was mostly very peaceful. Washington, DC was filled with energetic and proud Americans who came from all over to raise their voices in unison against the criminals who run our government and their disastrous policies that are making our nation more vulnerable to all kinds of attacks (natural and "Bush" made disasters).

<snip>

With the Reverends, we stopped in front of the White House and said a prayer. After the prayer, I said that we are light and they are darkness. Darkness can NEVER overcome the light, ever. As long as there is one spark, the darkness has lost. We will prevail, we will be victorious. The darkness has lost because our beacons of peace and truth are shining for the entire world to see. And it is a very pretty sight. Take that Karl.

To call him mistaken would assume he didn't know any better.

Karl Rove is a liar.

2. Ya Nur!
Cindy is very very right. Nur (Light) is Real; darkness, no matter how scary it appears, is merely a shadow, and like a shadow, cannot prevail against Light. Ya Nur (Oh Light!) is one of the 99 Divine Names of God. May Light always be with us.

13. Thank you for this, ayeshahaqqiqa!
One need not be a spotlight to be of value in darkness. Even a candle is extremely effective. Cindy is a spotlight, and we can't all be spotlights. Individually, we may be but candles, but even the candle overcomes the darkness.

24. One thing about Ms. Sheehan that should terrify Rove
There is a saying that "there is no one more dangerous than one who has nothing to lose". I think this is fairly true in her case. She lost a child. She has little else to lose. Apparently she is just a working class person like a lot of the rest of us, and obviously, she wants a simple answer. I'd like to say that she's going to bring Rove down, but that probably isn't true. Rove will bring himself down.

30. You got that right
make no mistake, these people are smart. Their mastery of language and emotion are impeccable. But, as Chi-town said, they know they are in trouble. Scary thing is, they have the power. A racoon is a relatively safe animal to humans, but when cornered (as the Bush admin is getting) scary things happen. Desperation, the great equalizer.

16. "from all over" is right
I met people from Georgia, South Carolina, and New York, and those are only the states I know of. The person from Georgia I spoke to told me there were 200 people just from her area in Georgia, which is more than the entire pro-Bush rally held today. I spoke to someone from South Carolina who told me the mood in South Carolina is changing dramatically regarding the war and Bush.

18. Me too! Met folks from Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, California,
Oregon and had a 40 minute chat with a wonderul DUer from NorthCarolina (and her hubby!)who I plan to chat with regularly! There were many veterans for peace and a even a decent representation from the WWII vets for peace (bless them!).

This nation is FULL of wonderful, decent, moral people who love the values this country has, periodically, aimed to stand for and who are willing to stand up to these liars and theives! It was wonderul to meet so many and just to know that we're not alone.

When the wheel of pain stops turning
And the branding iron stops burning
When the children can be children
When the desperados weaken
When the tide rolls into greet them
And the natural law of science
Greets the humble and the mighty
And the billion candles burning
Lights the dark side of every human mind

Each small candle
Each small candle
Each small candle
Lights the dark side of every human mind

And each small candle
Lights a corner of the dark

Written Aug. 15-16:

A Lady stands alone
And faces down the night
She will not sit or sleep
While putting up her fight
Her will is overwhelming
Her courage, it compels
For not a single moment
Does she forget the ones who fell.

The ones who come to visit
To her their stories tell;
Sent to a place of fire
From heaven into hell.
They’ve heard the shots ‘a-ringing
They’ve had to drop and roll
But the hardest sound of all
Is the lonely church bell’s toll.

‘Why did they have to do this,
Leave their freedom and their lives?
Were they sent there for a truth,
Or was it all just lies?’
She wants to know the answer
And so she won’t back down;
She’s camping out in Crawford
Until she meets that clown.

From a ditch she called out ‘Why?’
He was in that ranch inside.
He heard the lady’s words,
And did his best to hide.
No longer could it last,
No longer could it go.
That night he had to face her
She simply had to know.

She asked him all her questions,
He stopped and said ‘Now, whoa –
You’ve asked a lot of things,
But who else wants to know?’
She looked behind her shoulder,
And to her great surprise,
Behind her there were millions
A light to fill the skies.

‘That light is with me, George.
It’s very strong and bright.
This time you must be honest,
Or we’ll bring it all to light.’
He didn’t know what to say
His face was filled with fright.
For a simple little lady
Brought down his world that night.

The lady stood alone
And called out to the light:
‘Thank you so for helping,
to stave away the night.’
And in that perfect moment,
The light to her replied:
‘No – Thank you, Cindy.
You’ve made it turn out right.’

At long last. Cindy shows tremendous courage, brains, and will.
Rove fights for power and money. Cindy fights for what is right
and her dead son. Rove's biggest mistake will be underestimating her
and thinking his usual slime tactics will work.

41. Finding Common Ground
I attended this weekend's march, drove down from NYC with some friends (and an 87-year-old raging grannie!). While I'm thankful these marches are taking place, the intent and message is often lost in the cacophony of agendas, sometimes sincere, sometimes radical, and sometimes just plain absurd. And while that was present at this weekend's rally, the one thing holding us all together was the desire to see Bush & Co. out of the White House. We should all be seriously talking about impeachment, even if it seems an impossibility.
