Franklin Delano Bush???? WTF!!!
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 07:28 AM by Nightwing
Hurricanes' aftermath whips up new deal for president
By Susan Page, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — Back-to-back hurricanes have reshaped the geography of the Gulf Coast and the contours of George W. Bush's presidency.

Bush was elected in 2000 as a "compassionate conservative" who promised a "humble" foreign policy. After the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001, he made fighting terrorism his main mission, launching wars in Afghanistan and then Iraq.

Now, in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita — to the consternation of many in his Republican base — he is outlining one of the most ambitious domestic goals of any modern president. It is akin to FDR's New Deal, a response to the Depression, and the anti-poverty projects of LBJ's Great Society.

Call him Franklin Delano Bush?

1. For one, FDR managed to win his war.
FDR took a country IN depresssion and brought it OUT, not the other way around.

For FDR, the only thing we had to fear was fear itself. For Bush, the only thing we had was fear.

FDR hired millions. Bush hires a few corporations and suspends Davis Bacon.

FDR couldn't walk. Bush is a fucking cokehead drunk who falls off his bicycle. Okay, not sure where I was going with that.

2. Well you triggered my gag reflex
My stomach will roil all day. * has nothing, absolutely nothing, in common with FDR. It is obscene to mention their names in the same breath.

4. I agree that equating Bush with anything Roosevelt did is like
comparing a one cell amoeba to Einstein. Completely two different life forms.

But...the Bush family hates, abhors, detests, loathes anything to do with FDR, his programs, his administration, etc. This is absolutely the lowest, meanest thing you could ever say about any Bushie. Preston Bush made a fortune off of Hitler and FDR just didn't understand the concept of making a buck any way you can, using anyone you can, at the determent of soldiers, Jews, a country or democracy. It was all about money with no distractions like morals, ethics or what is right and good. They could not be further from FDR. We all know Bushie isn't giving away the Treasury for high moral reasons, he is just doing what his family has always done - trying to buy his way out of a mess. His grandson is just working the family business. No matter what the reason for equating the two - it is a definite slam to the Bushies and repugs and will really piss them off. And this is a good thing.

6. Disgusting. Sen. Ted Kennedy proposed formation of a TVA-like agency
Posted here, it got zero replies. Search GDP, if you are interested.

* has no interest in being FDB, his only interest is to continue running up the federal deficit by borrowing from Bejing and Tokyo.

7. Looks like KKKarl is kidney stone-free
And has been saving up his spin points for this gem. It is WAY too over the top to work. At best he will just interchange the numbers from his Fundivangelical base and his fiscal tight-ass base. It will be a wash. Well, maybe not...his Fundy base is pretty tight with the bucks too. So this should HURT georgie. Maybe he will pick up a few DLC butt kissers. Maybe Holy Joe and Hill will set up a butt-kissing booth right outside the oval office!

10. the article is good for us
No I don't agree with the analogy, but the true conservatives will turn on Bush for these policies. He is NOTHING like the platform in 2000. However I prefer articles re: incompetency.

14. Remember all that money they promised for New York ...

That 4 billion never got there. They never even got close.

GW Bush is a typical con-man. Promise, promise, promise, and when your promises fall through, make bigger promises.
