IL Fire Chief says expect more fires as power is restored in the Gulf
First responders return home

...Both Mundelein Fire Chief Randy Justus and Mundelein Police Department Deputy Chief Cameron Eugenis said the devastation is unimaginable - as is the dedication of the work force trying to make things right...

"I was a foot soldier," said Eugenis. "I was there to guard the Entergy (a power company similar to ComEd) workers as they repaired power lines. These guys are the real story. These guys lost everything. Their homes, their families and children are gone. When this is all done, they probably won't stay because there are no schools for their children, but nobody complained." ...

He said, "There will be many more fires. I don't think we've seen the peak - it's still out there and waiting."

Justus explained that even as water is drained everything is wet, which can cause "short-outs, sparks and flames."...

(Justus served as the point of contact between New Orleans firefighters and U.S. Navy and private helicopters used to assist fire fighting efforts.)
