Religion Sows Confusion Among U.S. Democrats
The lack of coherent policy alternatives from American Democrats has resulted in an over-emphasis on religion and morality in the country, and according to this op-ed article from Argentina’s La Nacion, means Democrats are failing to benefit from the collapse of President Bush’s popularity.
---
The rest of the world can only watch with astonishment at how, while managing to decipher the genetic code, the world’s greatest industrial power debates in its courts of Justice whether man descends from the monkey or a handful of mud heated by divine fire. But nevertheless, a majority of Americans take this question very seriously
---
The Democrats are baffled about what to do with this information.
---
The war in Iraq also constitutes a reason for Democratic confusion. Although critics of the war have increased, many Democrats that voted for the invasion are now hesitant to look like they are fanning opposition to it, and hence taking an ambiguous position.

"One recent report by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press determined that a majority of Americans (64%) favor the idea that public schools should teach the Biblical version of the creation of the world on a par with the theory of evolution, and 38% favor the complete elimination of Darwinism form school curriculums."

5. The ignorance of the Dark Ages right up through Nazi Germany
is being replicated and revivified.

Where it will finally end, no one can guess.

Although I would guess fire, either from the ovens or the burning of witches. I pity those who will be alive in Imperial Amerika 2100. What a tyrannous, barbarous, ignorant place that will be...unless these rends which now seem ireeversible...are reversed.

4. There are times I am simply ashamed
of my countrymen. This fact highlights just how stupid and willfully ignorant many of us are. As a scientist and a teacher, I lament the coming intellectual meltdown in this society as the rest of the industiralized world zooms by us.
