...Now Arun Gandhi runs the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence at Christian Brothers University in Tennessee, and travels the world spreading his grandfather's words...

Gandhi, who spoke in CSU's Cultural Crossings Lecture Series, said that nonviolence means more than just avoiding arms; it means embracing others and sharing fairly.

He urged the United States, his country since 1987, to pare its outsize consumption of the world's resources. "Grandfather said the world can provide for everybody's needs but not for its greed."

Gandhi said we may need force in the short run to stop slaughter. But he urged the world to go beyond such "crisis management" and develop a culture of peace, based on respect and acceptance...
