Rice bowls them over
WASHINGTON - Just as the theocratic leadership in Iran is trying to rein in the aggressive nationalism of the new president, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, so Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice appears to be restraining aggressive nationalists in Washington who want to escalate rising tensions with Iran and Syria.

In just the past 10 days, Rice and her State Department have reportedly not only opposed proposals to carry out military raids inside Syria as a way of further weakening, and possibly overthrowing, its already-beleaguered President Bashar Assad, but they have also put forward a plan for directly engaging Iran for the first time since May 2003.

1. Is Condi seriously considering 2008?
sounds like she sent out the "press release" herself on this story... even Condi is distancing herself from her own administration in hopes of gaining some political advantage.

3. Everybody's been wondering "Where's Condi?"
Maybe this is synthetic activity and she's boldly opposing an invasion
that was never going to happen anyway in order to cover up the fact that
she's actually sitting under a bedspread sucking her thumb.

6. Of course she's running
Do you think Dick Morris wrote that book about her without her permission?

Besides, it's the perfect way for the Crime Family and its benefactors and beneficiaries to continue their work unabated and unimpeded.

Wouldn't you want a President with a Chevron oil tanker named after her?

13. She won't win
Many conservatives will not vote for a woman. Many also will not vote for an African-American. Many more will not vote for a closet lesbian. So how does she win? Three strikes and she's out.

8. Do you want a huge chuckle?
There's a nudist who is running a Condi 08 website - saying that the Repukes are going to allow her better freedom than the Dems or anybody else.

Uh, don't all the righties equate nudity with sex? I was at the big Spencer Tunick photo-shoot in June last year, and the closest thing I saw for a rightie was a guy who was escorted out for constantly making obscene comments about the whole thing. I missed out on the TV reporter being in on the shoot . . .

9. Has she been damaged too much ?
Condi may have picked up too much negative baggage to consider running for office in 2008 .
Personally I thought that she would prove a bad move as Secretary of State although she has toned down the rhetoric of late .
Could be true that some Cabinet colleagues are now starting to distance themselves from "Lame Duck George"

10. No, it wasn't a bad move.
It was a springboard to further political ambitions.

14. Damaged too much?
Personally I think lying to the faces of the 9/11 widows under oath
showed a certain lack of class.

She said the "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US" memo did not warn of
new attacks. It did.

15. Maybe being that close to the "reality-based community" has rubbed off
Bush is so out of it right now she's probably having to go it alone. Maybe she's more of a pragmatist than an ideologue, or she's just feathering her nest for a run in '08. Either way, it beats the hell out of Cheney and Rummy running US foreign policy.
