Editorializing Cartoons - this one's mine
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 12:29 AM by Neil Lisst
I write a daily political comic, and of course, it's very editorial in nature. This week the topic is the Plame Affair, the insidious role played by Judith Miller, and the way Libby and Rove used her.

Monday's kicks it off. I'll post them in this thread, updating each day.

I appreciate feedback, and commentary on the substance as well.

3. I laughed out loud at the ones from the 17th and 18th.
:) Your cartoon put me in mind of "Sin City", quite retro.

And you might get a better response if you put this in GDP. Editorials is usually pretty slow.

4. Funny you should mention Sin City ...
It influenced me in the creation of Neil Lisst. About two months ago, I saw Sin City, and the comic book page come alive appealed to me. I had to watch it twice, and not just to see Jessica Alba dance again, although that would have been sufficient reason alone.

I liked the look of the Mickey Rourke character, and it was that influence that led me to formulate Neil Lisst's look and the early comics.

In September I described the character to my Canadian cartoonist friend, along with a month's script ideas, and he drew Neil exactly the way I wanted him. We have collaborated in the past on some political cartoons, but nothing like this.

We agonize over every comic. Some pop out easy, and some we work over and over. It's a short form of storyboarding.

I have posted some on the GD, but it's like dropping a rock into fast moving water. Hits bottom fast. Most who read don't comment, so the thread falls. I don't like kicking it nonstop. I figured that since things DO last here, this is a place for it.

Our comics are for the well-informed. I want to get Neil on editorial pages of real newspapers, and I'm probably going to shift my focus to that in the near future.

We like to get feedback because that helps us evolve the comic. For example, the use of color, and not having Neil in every comic.

Thanks for your comments.
