On Monday evening last week, as darkness descended on the capital, smartly dressed FBI agents moved quietly through the leafy Washington neighbourhood of Georgetown. They knocked on doors, questioning several residents about how well they knew Valerie Plame, the exposed CIA agent at the heart of a scandal that has rocked the Bush administration to its foundations.

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1604573,00.htmlI want to know what the FBI was doing questioning the neighbors--do
they think they are going to find out that it was one of the neighbors who outed an undercover operative? puleeeeaeze.
they must think this situation like the wwII joke about spies:
an agent is told he must make contact with an agent named fritz who lives in a rather large apartment building in berlin, and will know it is the right person when the man answers the signal "the elephant flies with no umbrella". when he gets there, he discovers that there are three fritzes listed in the building.
he knocks on the first door, there is no answer. knocks on the second door, gives the signal "the elephant flies with no umbrella". the man shrugs and says, "you want fritz the spy, who lives on the fourth floor."
