Roth takes over Stern's mike on Tuesday
http://www.cleveland.com/search/index.ssf?/base/entertainment/113619434637560.xml?eaall&coll=2

...Calling last week from New York, where the show will originate, the former Van Halen frontman predicted his debut would be "the best day of my life," "a thunderbolt in your Pop-Tarts" and "a good excuse to put bourbon in your coffee."...

"The only thing I have in common with Howard Stern is Hanukkah," Roth said.

The man who speaks several languages and is an author, world traveler, helicopter pilot student and EMS technician said his preparation for radio goes back to his boyhood days of telling stories around campfires...

He hinted that future guests might include potty-mouthed comic Sarah Silverman, former President Bill Clinton or one-time Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss. What about Eddie Van Halen, who has famously feuded with Roth?...

1. Diamond Dave's got a JOB!
It's good that he's giving his couch and TV a break.

6. I actually agree...

but it's been sad to watch him flail since his first 2 solo records. He kinda dropped off the map.

I just hope he's not some crypto-Republican in libertarian clothing. I'll puke if another one of those gets on the radio.

2. Howard will be a tough act to follow, but 'Diamond' David Lee Roth......
should be given a fair chance with his new show. I've already got my SIRIUS gear installed and ready to go for the 1-9-06 debut of the NEW Howard Stern Show on HOWARD 100!!!! Hey Now !!!!!!

4. Be nice of the show concentrated more on music guests
and not strippers and the mentally challenged.

5. Howard is a GREAT interviewer and I agree with your thoughts......
heavy on the interesting interviews, musicians and bands; light on the strippers, etc., etc.

7. it'd lose its audience
if (num(stripper)+num(mentally challenged))/num(normal talk show fare)
drops too low.

9. "Listeners likely to jump if Roth doesn't improve "

Plain Dealer Reporter

...Roth's first day behind the microphone was filled with illogical ramblings and parental advice from a man who is not a parent. Other than his sole in-studio guest -- his uncle, Manny Roth -- and a handful of call-in listeners and unnamed sidekicks who served as a live laugh track, the show was all Roth. No contests, no skits, no reading from headlines...

Roth criticized the poor air quality at Ground Zero in New York, then suggested the site be used for schools, artists and student housing...

The show improved in its second half, as Roth interviewed his uncle about his experiences running Cafe Wha? in New York, where many stars of the 1960s performed...

By 8 a.m., Roth was declaring that being a radio host was a breeze, much easier than dragging oxygen cans up stairs, which he does as an EMS technician...
