2. He's Republican
If so, I shall have to read more of him.
I am looking for a Conservative alternative to Al Franken, just to keep me on my toes (so to speak)
You know, funny, but never really unfairly cruel.

3. He's Republican???
Dave Barry has always struck me as Moderate to Democrat. Granted, he takes pot shots at both parties, but I've never had reason to believe he was Republican.

4. I really doubt he's Republican. For one thing, he *loathed* Nixon
if you read his "history of America" (forget exact title) book, it's pretty clear.

When I think of "moderate," or "regular American," my first thought is often of Dave Barry. Don't know his position on all things, but I'd be very surprised if he voted or was registered Republican.

5. he annoyingly minimizes the Scooter Libby thing
I hate it when comedians try and pretend they're stupid in an attempt to appear humble and folksy or something. Its just patronizing.

6. Dave Barry on his yearly recap column
Dave was on the Washington Post chatsite Tuesday. It's pretty funny. He does take some grief... not for "Scooter" Libby, but for his constant references to Natalie Holloway. He was called insensitive! (gasp!) He responded that Greta Van Sustern and Faux News were the insensitive ones, not him. And he's right, of course.

Have fun!
