F*ck Thomas Friedman. (NYT) |
|
But here's the rub: America's refusal to have a serious energy policy makes these problems only more severe, and its refusal to have a serious entitlement policy - reforming Social Security and Medicare before they totally devour the U.S. budget - is only going to sap America's ability to play the global governing role that is so necessary for world stability.
To put it another way, our energy gluttony is strengthening the worst forces in the world and our entitlement gluttony is going to weaken our capacity to deal with those forces. As the Johns Hopkins University foreign affairs specialist Michael Mandelbaum puts it: "The greatest threat to America's role in the world today is not China. It's Medicare."When did he become such an ass??? http://select.nytimes.com/2006/01/04/opinion/04friedman.html?n=Top%2fOpinion%2fEditorials%20and%20Op%2dEd%2fOp%2dEd%2fColumnists%2fThomas%20L%20Friedman

3. The fascists passed the new Medicare provisions in 2003 |

Why didn't you speak up then, Friedman? And it is the entitlement of the health care industry that is breaking the bank and not the few ounces in pills that seniors get with their insurance premiums.
Get real Friedman.

America ruling the globe? Hey Friedman, why don't you quote me? "The greatest threat to America's role in the world today is not China. It's American hubris."

5. Stock portfolios are all that matter to people like him. The "idea" of |
|
america exists only in the stock portfolios. It seems to be what he is saying. Socialized medicine is actually cheaper than any other way. Cheaper & healthier. Friedman projects. America is being destroyed by greed.
