clickable longer story at site.

We have been so conditioned to expect so little even pantomime listening by this White House that perhaps many of us don't even notice, what an incredible headline this is: "Bush Listens to Suggestions on Iraq." Update: He listened for all of ten minutes, and then headed for a final photo opportunity with his guests.

1. No one can tell him anything...he already knows it all. Just ask him!
I don't think he can pay attention to anything for more than ten minutes. That is why they have to feed him little sound and video bites. It really is amazing to me how this ignoramus got elected. He doesn't care about anything or anyone outside of his little cocoon.

Good God, we've got the class slacker for president.

2. sitting in the same room is NOT the same as listening, which is
something chimpboy does not do well. and this little "meeting" was nothing more than a media stunt, designed to lull the gullible into thinking he is actually consulting with people who know whereof they speak.

4. My take.
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 11:34 PM by Ready4Change
(Background: I think Bush's backers have decided they've gotten all they can get out of ths scheme, and are bailing out before it can unravel. However, in order to cover their retreat, they are setting up Bush as the fall guy, and are just starting to hatch long prepared plots to pin all the blame on the boy wonder. The Bush/NSA leak was just the first of what's to come.)

My take is that Bush is now bereft of many of the advisors who have been feeding him answers all this time. In the void, either he asked one of his other aids what to do, or one of those aids has started applying guidance. Getting some outsiders opinions on Iraq is our first sight of this.

It's gonna be hard on Bush, hearing these things which will in many ways totally contradict the illusions he has been surrounded by for the last 5 years. At first, like a child, he will deny and reject them. (Such as this, listen for 10 minutes then run off.)

I don't think he's strong enough to handle it. He's gonna crack and it's gonna get crazy.

If he weren't such an arrogant SOB I'd almost feel sorry for him.

But he is, and I don't.

6. If he said anything back - that might have kept the discussion going -
they may have found him out - his true engagement of the issues - and sunk the whole thing.

Of course they shut him up. Told him to use some of that fantastic body-language they bragged so much about in that first year.
