Another Undeclared War?

By Patrick J. Buchanan

01/18/06 -- -- Is the United States about to launch a second preemptive war, against a nation that has not attacked us, to deprive it of weapons of mass destruction that it does not have?

With U.S. troops tied down in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Pakistanis inflamed over a U.S. airstrike that wiped out 13 villagers, including women and children, it would seem another war in the Islamic world is the last thing America needs.

Yet, the "military option" against Iran is the talk of the town.

"There is only one thing worse than ... exercising the military option," says Sen. John McCain. "That is a nuclear-armed Iran. The military option is the last option, but cannot be taken off the table."

Appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation," McCain said Iran's nuclear program presents "the most grave situation we have faced since the end of the Cold War, absent the whole war on terror."

2. Exactly....
The world's biggest bully only picks on defenseless nations. It uses diplomacy with China, N Korea and other countries that can fight back.

3. Yet, Pat voted for the people who are doing this
He knew what he was getting, he said he was against it, but he voted for them anyway.

5. I always thought it would be a cold day in hell before I
could agree with Mr Buchanan.

But we really do agree, liberals and real conservatives. And on central issues.

Red flags are going up here.

You gotta think - a third of the population exists in a vegetative state anyway. And always did.

If Kerry had just come out and said the war really was stupid, that is what he (they) were waiting to hear.

Unfortunate he did not have the intestinal fortitude to be a Barr and openly back a Libertarian.

I am a social liberal - but I'll say, I'd pick a leader (any leader at this point) who does have such guts - and I know true conservatives and true liberals agree here.

And it is kinda scary.

Joe

7. Buchanan's kinda weird
I really disagree with him on the issues I disagree with him on, but I really agree with him on the ones I agree with him on. The man doesn't like shades of gray, and he doesn't get them in my reactions to him either.

Looking at a random column he's written kinda feels like going into a box of chocolates where half of 'em are filled with ambrosia and the other half with mustard gas..
