It is inevitable that the government will start to seek out data for other purposes if it succeeds with Google, attorney Thomas R. Burke warned. "The implications of are profound. People have got to come to realize that, eventually, s.

Following Thursday's revelation that the Bush Administration has ordered search-engine providers to turn over usage records, citizen rights advocates and attorneys have voiced alarm over what many say is an unprecedented invasion of privacy Latest News about privacy. The administration has said it needs to survey this data in order to build a case against exposing children to pornography on the Web.

"That information -- what a person searches for on the Internet Get Linux or Windows Managed Hosting Services with Industry Leading Fanatical Support. -- is not like knowing what brand of toothpaste he uses," said Thomas R. Burke, an attorney with Davis Wright Tremaine's Privacy and Security Group in San Francisco. "It is far, far more intimate," he told TechNewsWorld.

The nature of the information the government is seeking is not entirely clear. It appears at face value that the requested records would not reveal, for example, that Jane Doe searched for information on local dog groomers.

2. Just keep your kids off the internet .....
That's the best way to keep them off porn sites.

Why should my privacy be compromised because someone wants their kids to have a computer to play with. Supervise your own kids.

3. Is My Memory In Error, Or
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 09:53 AM by Frustratedlady
didn't I see a list of pedophiles/sex offenders who had been charged and/or convicted, and were active members/office holders of the Repubs?

Or was it the Democrats....dang! My memory gets a little hazy, from time to time.

Anyway, it is refreshing to see that the present administration is valiantly striving to catch and prosecute the pedophiles/perverts who abuse children.

Now, there's something else in the back of my mind, but I can't quite grasp it...hmmm. Oh, yeah. Now I remember. Naw, they wouldn't dare open THAT can of worms. :-)

6. While there are some Repubs who will defend anything * does
a LOT of them are upset over this. Look over in freeperville, and you will see some that "get it", that this is NOT small government. This is a worse gaffe for them than Harriet Myers. The Dems need to pounce ALL over this. People don't like to have their porn searches subpoenaed, and trust me, Repubs also like their porn.

8. No use cleaning out your cache this time.
Google has it and Bush wants it. We have gone from gold mines to data mines with all this information. Number one asset of a business is it's information.

This administration was just getting an earful on privacy and the next second you turn around he is grabbing for more of everyone's privacy. Are all the king's men in place?

9. Kick and Nom. If google gives in it's the fall of the internet, IMHO.
The only good thing is that the two Billionaires have enough lawyers to fight the Imperialist President. I guess since I googled BuschcocksuckerGannon that means I am going to jail.

11. Go, go Google!
Out of all of the search engines, only Google stood up to the
Nazis.

How long they can last is anyone's guess; let's hope it's a
long time, but if they eventually are beaten into submission,
I won't hold it against them.

I love the quote; it is most apt these days.
