Dear Senator Specter,
I know you have been ill, and that your time in office may be limited by failing health. But I would that that surely this awareness of your finite power would light a fire under you to do some real work to insure a brighter future for this nation. Instead, today with your party-line vote to support Alito, you have insured your legacy as a wishy-washy would-be leader, who will be quickly forgotten by all but the bean counters of the world.
It seemed that after your deplorable treatment of Anita Hill, an affront to women everywhere, you would never regain the support of women. But you have tried and tried to portray yourself as a centrist, committed to progressive politics.
What a pity Arlen Specter. Your legacy is not going to be that of a fine orator, nor an inspired leader. Instead, it's all too clear, that you are simply a mealy-mouthed politician who speaks with a forked tongue. You have betrayed women everywhere with your vote for Alito today.

I could not believe my ears when I heard him say, when talking aabout Presidential Powers, that he thought Congress had too much power. However I was glad to see the Democrats point that out today.
