Read his article on the front page of DU today!!
Damn, I couldn't have said it better...and I have ALWAYS hated Paul of Tarsus! that friggin' asshole is the source of 97% of this country's problems today.
If I could go back in time, and kill just one person...it would be Paul of Tarsus. I'd nail him before he got a chance to spew his bigotry, and spread it into the Bible, and thus have it carried forward to modern times.

1. A better move might have been to... |
|
... have masqueraded as a wise man and smothered Mother Mary's little darling at birth, thus pre-empting 2000 years of religious oppression, bigotry and intolerance. I'm sure it is what Shrub, as one of the Pharisees of the day, would have done.
Not that I am advocating assassination in any way, however. Look what it got Pat Robertson.

2. As I recall, Herod tried that, too |

Didn't get very far with it.
Bigotry and intolerance are to one degree or another associated with most all religions. The way I see it, it's not so much a matter of their intrinsic worth, but what certain human beings and movements end up doing with it.

3. Nah...Jesus Wasn't A Bad Guy...It's His "FOLLOWERS!!!" |
|
Jesus was a good guy. That is one reason I hate Paul of Tarsus so badly...he is the first to start twisting the words, and the intentions, and the meanings of Jesus' words...and THAT pisses me off. If we lived, TRULY...as Jesus meant for us to...we'd have a much better world...full of love, tolerance, understanding, peace, joy, hope, mercy, compassion...
Try actually READING The Bible sometime...before you go off condemning it and Christianity because of what a bunch of asshats like Robertson, and Falwell, and Phelps, and Wildmon, and Dobson, and Sekulow, and LaHaye, and Bush have done with it.
Remember...it even says in the Bible about how there will be many false prophets in the final days...and also take special note of what Jesus had to say about the Pharisees and Sadducees of His day...and really ask yourself who, in this modern age, best fits the description of "Pharisee."

Just joined DU the other day. Obviously, I am no fan of Paul. While religions are tainted with intolerance and bigotry, Jesus was different. His, love the enemy, prayer for your persecutor was different. The only time He played the hell card was when he was addressing religious hypocrites and other conservative blowhards.
One thing I am unable to do is love those assholes of the Religious Right. You should read the emails I have been getting.
