Update 2: Pastor Urges Microsoft Stock Buy-And-Dump
By RACHEL LA CORTE , 01.24.2006, 09:45 PM

"A pastor who threatened a national boycott against Microsoft and other major corporations for endorsing a gay rights bill urged supporters Tuesday to buy up the companies' stock and dump it to drive prices down.

Rev. Ken Hutcherson, pastor of Antioch Bible Church in the Seattle suburb of Redmond, said the stock-dumping plan had been part of his strategy all along.

"You got to find out how you affect a company," Hutcherson said, conceding that it would be hard to get people to shun products from companies that dominate the marketplace as Microsoft and Boeing do.

He wants supporters to buy one or two shares over the next few months, then sell them May 1.

1. Tell this man that stockholders do not work for him, he works for them
with the gay thing. They don't go around loosing money on stocks for him. He goes around loosing his soul for them - teaching hate so elites can get power.

That is how it works.

Somebody help this man. Explain it to him. He didn't get the memo or something.

2. Can you buy MS shares directly,
or must you go through a broker?

5. I believe only through a broker.........
so this "man of god" is going to end up fleecing his flock to make some ridiculous point that will, in the end, have no effect on the price of Microsoft stock. What is it with these jerks? I think all they want is publicity so that there's more gold in the collection plates every Sunday. He sees those TV evangelists with the Rolexes and $2,000 suits and he feels cheated.

3. I wish these godbots.........
would stick to their god stuff and stay out of the government and business. What would the godbots do if Microsoft started a campaign against the Rev. Hutcherson? What if Microsoft told everyone to deluge the Antioch Bible church with e-mails containing viruses and porn?
And people wonder why I've chosen atheism. :eyes: These dipshits and others like them have perverted religion into a political action committee, there no longer exists any boundary between religion and politics. Of course, they see nothing wrong with this, nor does the IRS. They're a bunch of hypocritical charlatans, just what their supposed savior was purported to despise. :puke:

and either literally or figuratively will do.

A load of manure on the front steps of the pastoral McMansion would say a lot, don't you think? Or, for the limited in horizon, just the flaming bag of dog poo. Or, for those overly concerned with the niceties of laws that protect the powerful from the powerless, perhaps a mailing campaign from people sending in pictures of piles of poo downloaded and printed off the net. I'm just free associating here, no pressure, but there are so many ways to dump one of these stuffed shirts, ways more benign than ruining a stock price and sending a lot of old folks into bankruptcy in the process.

I guess Reverend Pompous didn't think of that one when he was thinking of ways to ruin companies that have been caught practicing the tolerance Jesus taught.

6. So obviously what this guy has done...
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 06:13 AM by ticapnews
is put a bunch of MSFT in his portfolio and is now looking to his followers to slowly tick the price up between now and May 1. He sells on April 30, possibly making a nice profit, and his flock gets fleeced three times (once when buying, again during the price runup they are financing and finally when they sell at outrageous commissions).

Of course, this plan will have virtually no impact on MSFT stock. Microsoft has a market cap of $282,000,000,000 and averages over 50,000,000 shares traded every day. That's between six and seven million shares per hour. If every man, woman and child of Redmond, WA bought five shares it would be a grand total of 230,000 shares - and they would be bought the moment they were sold.

But by all means, I hope this guy and his followers go through with the brilliant strategy. It will simply show how pathetic they are when the stock price doesn't even hiccup when they pull off their master plan.

8. I don't think he has any understanding of financial markets. Or politics.
Or Christianity. This person doesn't know where he is situated in the hierarchy.

10. How much do you want to bet that, if his followers DO this, he
waits until the stock goes down, and then HE steps in and buys MS stocks, and decides to "spend time with his family" when the MS stock goes back up . . .?
