Victim of my own hate.

I got illusions of grandeur. I delude myself thinking I belong to a high society when they don’t even know my name. I cheer for them; I ingratiate their will, and hate what they hate. I hate whom they tell me to hate. I fear whom they tell me to fear. I believe their lies. Lies about Democracy and Christian morality! I am a loyal member of the party. I would die for them or lie for them. They think for me and I feel for them. This is my sad mantra! I write this as they take me away to the Patriotic camp.

First they came for the Anarchists. I said nothing, I didn’t believe in Anarchism.

Then they came for the communists. I cheered! My brother died in Vietnam.

They came for the Gays. I laughed! Who needed a bunch of perverts?

They came for the Arabs. I rejoiced! They were all terrorists anyway.

They got the left wing college professors! I smiled. They were all pompous anyway.

They repressed the Afro-Americans! I was gleeful. They were lazy criminals anyway.

They abolished the unions! I said nothing! They were lazy leeches driving up the prices of goods.

They went after the free press! I did nothing! I watch Fox news!

They took down the ACLU! I turned my back! The constitution was safe.

They went after Hollywood! I yawned! I don’t go to the movies any more!

They went after the Liberals! I was happy! Finally America was America Again!

They came for the Jews! I did nothing! I was not a Jew!

They came for the Catholics! I couldn’t care less! I was not one of them!

Then they came for me! And there was nobody to speak for me!

Oh why didn’t believe their warnings instead of laughing in their face and accusing them of insanity! Then it dawn on me, the victimizer would claim be a victim. I fell for the oldest trick in the world! Woe is me!
