Freep: Democrats Attempt Coercion Of Judge Alito To Alter Future Decisions
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 11:25 PM by NVMojo
Check this bull crap out from freep land! They must really be getting worried!!!

Portland, Oregon - US Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has disclosed a dastardly effort at intimidation which appears to be aimed at influencing future decisions by US Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito.

Democrat US Senator Reid intends to lead a futile filibuster against Judge Samuel Alito in order to send a message of opposition to the nominee. Reid appears intent that his message will weigh heavily on Judge Alito's deliberations following his confirmation to the high court. This is an scurrilous attempt at the coercion of a future US Supreme Court justice.

If the screaming meemies in the left-wing of the democrat party could only fathom their own coercive words...they would howl about the anti-American effort of a few dissenting US Senators who are trying to intimidate and influence the future decisions of a United States Supreme Court justice.

snip...

This should be a federal crime. If similar attempts at coercion or intimidation were perpetrated against Judge Alito following his confirmation next week, the perpetrators should be prosecuted by the US Department of Justice. America cannot allow the violation of judicial independence that is fundamental to the interpretation of the US Constitution and the application of the laws of our country by the judiciary.

I found out it is in response to this:

The Nevada Democrat said, however, he would vote for such a measure to at least send a message of opposition to the nominee. That vote will come on Monday with final confirmation set for Tuesday.

"I think it is an opportunity for people to express their opinion as to what a bad choice it was to replace (retiring Justice) Sandra Day O'Connor" with Alito, Reid told reporters after a speech at a Washington hotel.

7. Ridiculous. Reid had to be talked into this
He was making noises about quitting and concerned citizens made him reconsider.

13. I still maintain it's much better than ridicule as to how "futile" it is
Let them fear it -- as to their tactics, they would be doing it regardless, so who gives a f...?

21. That and
If they really think it is an attempt to intimidate and coerce Alito if he is confirmed, maybe it will work and he will be intimidated into doing the right thing while he is there.

That's what's called: "My glass is half full; of poison." thinking, acording to my wife.

5. Well look at were your going to find truth and
reality. You actually think freeps would bother to think for themselves when Fox and Rush thinks for them? Whats really funniest about freeps is seeing them at the unemployment office and welfare office being denied their entitlements. What do you mean I'm not entitled? I voted repuke so I am entitled! then, as they get escourted out the door by security, the blacks and mexicans life at them, as well as the working poor.

17. they are trying to say that Reid and the filibuster are just a way
to intimidate Alito who, in his mind, will win appointment. It's sick, I know.

11. This Nazi thinks it's o.k for Robertson to threaten judges, but....

The Democrats are just asking for an independent judiciary, that's all. It is the right wingers who are threatening judges lives. This SOB needs to be locked up.

16. Again right wing smear tactics pretending to be reality.

~In 1933, persecution of the Jews became active Nazi policy, but at first laws were not as rigorously obeyed and were not as devastating as in later years.

On 1 April 1933, Jewish doctors, shops, lawyers and stores were boycotted. Only 6 days later, the "Law for the Restoration of the professional Civil Service" was passed, banning Jews employed in government. These laws meant that Jews were now indirectly and directly dissuaded or banned from privileged and upper-level positions reserved for "Aryan" Germans. From then on, Jews were forced to work at more menial positions, beneath other non-Jews.~

Now edit part of that...

~In 2000, persecution of the Liberals became active Republican policy, but at first laws were not as rigorously obeyed and were not as devastating as in later years.~

What does the future hold for Liberals in America? Consider the K street project. http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=K_Street_Project

Consider the politics of division that have weakened our country. COnsider the persecution of Liberal college professors, or the insane rhetoric of Slanthead, (head)Rush, O'Lielly and recently Manne Coulter. What happens if some fanatic extremist righty poisons justice Stevens?
The reality is contributions to America by Liberals are numerous and vast. We helped build this Country. Since when are we the enemy? What have we done? We have allowed the Righties to walk all over us.

Alito is an extremist, plain and simple. His lack of answers to questions of Presidential powers, torture, signing statements, illegal spying, and the right of an individual over big business are more than troubling. His appointment further damages our Country.

The damage that has already been done by the partisan politics of greed and corruption will take many many years to "un-do". We need to start now. We will take our Country back, and the man or woman who can heal our Country, the person or persons who can bring the 2 sides back together, they will be the ones that will be favorably remembered in future generations. Bush ultimately will be a dark stain on our Nations history.

19. Wow
I think I actually choked on the load of crap that was just shoveled my way. I mean spin is one thing, but a filibuster is a perfectly legitimate political maneuver and it is neither intimidating nor coercive. It is, exactly as Reid stated, a message to the rest of the congress how vehemently we oppose this nomination.

I wish stupidity was painful, and extreme stupidity should be fatal. Of course, the world would be a more sparsely populated place, but maybe house prices would drop again finally.

Stupid freeper schmuck.
