It's time for .. officials to throw flags (Zinn/Ft WorthStarTele: I-word)
It's time for .. officials to throw flags
It's time for America's game officials to throw flags

... When the president ignores the law to establish a domestic spying program without following congressionally mandated guidelines, he shatters the sense of what it means to be American. Even conservatives are speaking out ...

Democrats survived Ronald Reagan, Republicans survived FDR, and our great country even made it through the Richard Nixon era. But I think that the nation -- what we think of as America -- is in peril from the current administration. Its agenda is confusing and neither conservative nor Republican ...

The NSA affront has brought a few conservative leaders -- people who put more value on their beliefs than on winning -- to question the direction, or misdirection, of the current ship of state. More will follow as they reflect that if Clinton had run roughshod over congressional mandates, House members would have drawn up the articles of impeachment and voted before noon. I like to think that I have sufficiently outgrown my teen football mentality to have supported such an action ...

Partisanship aside, this game is getting out of control. And somebody is going to get hurt.

As long as we permit them to remain in power, our laws and regulations aren't worth the paper they are printed on. The fascist Bush syndicate refuses to enforce and flagrantly violates those laws. Our "leaders" need to face facts and stop supporting the pretense of their legitimacy by offering plans to them, or trying to influence their agenda.

Our only option is to fight them at every turn, and ultimately force Bush, Cheney, and their co-conspirators out of power, and punish them for their crimes.

Alito is a co-conspirator in their treasonous effort to nullify our constitution. When we reject him, we reject the lunacy of a Stalinist unitary authoritarian executive in America.

4. This is an excellent article! I've e-mailed to everyone I know.
This is what really stood out for me:

When the president ignores the law to establish a domestic spying program without following congressionally mandated guidelines, he shatters the sense of what it means to be American. Even conservatives are speaking out.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN AMERICAN!

Peace.

5. Democrats Didn't Survive Reagan--His War Continues
Today's crooks are the same as Reagan/Nixon regime: the destruction continues. The Democrats had a chance with Clinton, and blew it big time with their petty diva posturing. Now there aren't enough to posture. If the filibuster fails, the Democrats are reduced to guerrilla status.

10. Too true. And are there any Democrats today

who could be guerillas, even in the mildest sense? Aren't most Democrats just rich guys who'll talk left on social issues while helping the rich get richer and the middle class get crushed?

11. Rooftops in New Orleans? Anybody remember that?
Arabian Horse Judge running FEMA? Anybody remember that wonderful appointment?

John Bolton representing the US at the UN?

A male veterarinarian heading up a women's health program at FDA? Anybody remember that appointment? (Okay, that one was quickly retracted.)

How is the Alito appointment any better?

And yes, people have already gotten hurt.

In New Orleans. In Iraq. All over.

14. Not only is it time for the officials to throw flags,
it's time for some players to be ejected from the game.
