Tasting Victory, Liberals Instead Have a Food Fight
By Dana Milbank

Tuesday, January 31, 2006; Page A02

The new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds congressional Democrats in the best position they've held in 14 years, besting President Bush and Republican lawmakers on Iraq, the economy, health care, immigration, ethics and more.

All of which can mean only one thing: It is time for the Democrats to eat their own.

1. well hell
I didn't realize we were doing so well. I must've missed the impeachment proceedings beginning, the filibuster of the right-wing nut bags to the SCOTUS and all those wonderful programs to help the underpriviledged we've recently implemented.

And they say it's a liberal media...

3. piss on milbank from a great height
just another beltway insider whose only real concern is to be one of the gang and enjoy nice lunches at good resturants. People like this should be sewn into cavas bags left in a wheatfield in Kansas somewhere.

5. Columnists are hired to be clever & witty..It's not long before
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 02:57 PM by SoCalDem
That's all they are.. In a fair world, the *² admin would be in the process of being raked over the coals daily, and under constant investigation, so clever columnists provide some comic relief. The problem is that NO ONE ELSE is doing their jobs, so the only people still at it are the columnists. They are used to being equal-opportunity (or they think they are) lampooners.

I do not fault them for chiding the national Democrats, they deserve lampooning most of the time. It's amplified because there's no counterbalance, and the "barbed remarks aimed at Dems", instead BECOME news and only makes them look weaker.

We all love Keith so much because he's bold, but a lot of it is because theres so little ruth being told. He's a good cook, but we are also starving.. If we were "well-fed", he might not be our only superstar

6. Sadly, he's right
You may not LIKE it, but he is right. We should be positioned to cream the Pukes on issue after issue after issue. But our so-called "leaders" (and I use that term very loosely) cannot for the life of them find their asses with both hands. DINOs like Biden and Lieberman will mutually masturbate each other and our Democratic message (ha! there's a good one!) will get lost in the noise, with the able assistance of the MSM.

8. Good question.
We don't seem to have one, other than "Bush Sucks." Which is TRUE, of course, but it's not enough.

9. Damn Right, he's right.
I've watched this for almost 40 years now, and every time the Democratic Party gets a shot at dealing a death blow to the rePukes, somebody yells "IT'S CANNIBAL TIME!!!" and the cats will not be herded.

You know why the rePukes are able to take advantage of the country EVERY FUCKING TIME?!? BECAUS BY AND LARGE, THEY STICK TOGETHER.

Did any of the "Moderate" rePukes vote against Alito? NO!!! They stuck with the NEOCONS, because REPUKES STICK TOGETHER. THAT is why they win, not because they're right or because of all their support from the common people: it's because you can't tell where the HELL the Democrats are coming from because they are all over the map.

10. Hyperbole not withstanding....
I think you're quite right. There's alot of finger pointing here toward the party leadership. But the left flank of the Democratic Party, and by this I mean the Green/Sheehan supporters, are for the most part willing to fall on their swords for their views. If that means that we have to live under Republican rule, so be it.
