Kiss of Death for Leiberman?

Lieberman, Bush `Smooch' Conveys Connecticut Democrats' Unrest
Feb. 16 (Bloomberg) -- It was just a kiss on the cheek. Now Joe Lieberman's ``smooch'' from President George W. Bush may become a symbol of the first Democratic effort to unseat the party's three-term senator.

Among Democrats, who would determine the primary's outcome, 57 percent favor Lieberman's re-election, compared with 71 percent of Republicans, according to the poll. That's further evidence that Lieberman has moved too close to the Bush camp, Lamont supporters say.

1. It'd be nice
But it won't happen as long as he has 57% approval among Dems.

6. Only 57% among his base?
Sounds vulnerable to me. A sitting incumbent with those numbers in his own party is not a good sign. Am sure he has a huge lead in campaign dollars, but anytime a primary challenger starts out with 40%+ in Feb it is possible.

A good question would be who the Repugs will run, a true believer or a traditional NE moderate? A Rockefeller Repub (Joe is a Dem version of one) would be harder for a new comer to beat than someone tied at the hip with Chimpy. imho

2. It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss.

I recall someone else was betrayed by a kiss........

3. Kiss of Ass for Lieberman.
That's all he's been up to anyway. I wish he would just go away.

4. If not for the desperate need for Democrats...
If not for the desperate need for Democrats in numbers alone, it seems to me it would do less damage to the Democratic Party to replace Lieberman--even with a Republican! I think his smoochie, kiss-ass, weak-kneed cow-towing and submissiveness to Republicans and the Bush Administration in particular has done more harm to the Democratic Party than any small good the guy has ever done (if he ever has done any good). He's one of the reasons people think the Democrats are disorganized, weak and have no ideas and just makes us look like opportunists who are pathetically easily manipulated. He blurs our message and makes it look as though we'd never be able to stand up and handle important issues like national defense/security. Besides, I find him more than simply annoying, it revolts :puke: me that he's a member of the same party.

5. is fleaberman a democrat?
coulda fooled me.

IMHO i think he is WORSE than having a republican in that seat. he gives the thugs their "bi-partisan" shield on almost everything they do it seems. this takes away from ALL democrats, not just smooches. same goes for crazies like zell miller.
