Weighing the Potential Backlash (Independent Collegian, Toledo)
<comment>
The IC is distributed on the campus of the University of Toledo and is aimed the UT community, but is not officially associated with the University of Toledo. Offices are off campus.
The official UT campus paper http://www.utnews.utoledo.edu was last published on 20 Feb, before the story broke. The next issue will not be published until 13 March, so this was the source by which many at UT learned of this story.

Weighing the potential backlash

By: Chris Ankney

Issue date: 2/23/06 Section: News
***
Outbursts were answered by silence during the sometimes awkward meeting between members of the Muslim Student Association, the Arab Student Union and UT President Dan Johnson, yesterday.
***
The meeting was called to discuss the terrorism indictment of UT student Wassim Mazloum, the backlash it could have on the UT Muslim community and a letter Johnson wrote to students and faculty.
***
Khan said Muslims need to learn how to deal with the criticism and negative media attention because it's not going to go away soon.
***
"Since you are a minority, you're going to be under scrutiny," Khan said. "It's what you do with the frustration that comes from this scrutiny that matters."
