America's war on the web (Rummy document)
Thirdly, the US wants to take control of the Earth’s electromagnetic spectrum, allowing US war planners to dominate mobile phones, PDAs, the web, radio, TV and other forms of modern communication. That could see entire countries denied access to telecommunications at the flick of a switch by America ... http://www.sundayherald.com/54975

Reminds me of a Philip K. Dick novel - Wonder what Rummy reads?

1. Just re-watched "Escape from L.A." again last night ...
... very similar scenario. Wonder if Rummy also owns a copy?

2. The Pentagon and cyberspace
Look into "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources, pgs. 51 & 57 among others. This document was published in 2000 by the Project for the New American Century - a neocon think-tank that includes cheney, rumsfeld, jeb bush, and "scooter" libby among its charter members. You'll see that control of the web is a key part of their strategy. Truth be told, they're just following their game plan.

3. I've been following this story.
Rumsfailed, in his addled brain, has been told that the war in Iraq is a failure. A complete, colossal quagmire which cannot be won. He's been trying to figure out what went wrong.

For about 2 years now, Rumsfailed has been complaining that the media distorts everything, that "lies travel at the speed of light", and "we can never win as long as people are lying". He also complained that when he visited Morocco recently, he noticed that "little ramshackle houses had satellites on the roofs" meaning, they were watching Al Jazeera and we will never win based on this.

Rumsfailed has slowly realized that even if we were to prevail in the Middle East, we will never win because public opinion is against us. It took him a few years and some outstanding advisors to tell him this.

Rumsfailed has trouble with an enemy he does not understand. He does not use the Internet, so it becomes this spooky, shadowy foe. He's complained that Al Qaida has information superiority over the U.S., has information teams working smoothly to crank out the propaganda, 2/47.

His solution? Smother the earth with a blanket of US propaganda. Weed out the lies, spray them with US "good news" into every corner of the earth.
