Krugman: "The Great Revulsion" (Bush and policies rejected)
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 08:45 AM by Inland
It's not too late to read Krugman's book, "the great unraveling", with his collection of columns from three years to five years ago. Why? Because those columns in 2003 explain why the US is going to end up RIGHT WHERE IT IS TODAY. It's prediction turned into history by time. Anyway, here's today's column.

THE GREAT REVULSION By PAUL KRUGMAN

"I have a vision — maybe just a hope — of a great revulsion: a moment in which the American people look at what is happening, realize how their good will and patriotism have been abused, and put a stop to this drive to destroy much of what is best in our country."

I wrote those words three years ago in the introduction to my column collection, "The Great Unraveling." It seemed a remote prospect at the time: Baghdad had just fallen to U.S. troops, and President Bush had a 70 percent approval rating.

Now the great revulsion has arrived. The latest Fox News poll puts Mr. Bush's approval at only 33 percent.

3. I still occasionally go back and read the intro to "the great
unraveling". Krugman stands out as one of our best pundits.

Which is more than I can say about Ed Strong. It's always a danger to try and use the politics of other countries to make points about our own. Mr. Strong's attempts to tie the French protests, Thai elections, and Italian elections to some kind of rejection of Bush policies are questionable.
