MSNBC’s Shuster: Signs Point To Rove Indictment
Last night, MSNBC’s David Shuster took a look at recent court filings by special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and suggests that Karl Rove is likely to be indicted. Watch it:

(vid)

Three key points made by Shuster:

1. The latest court documents, for the first time, name Rove as a subject of the investigation.

2. The court documents go out of their way to say that Rove will not be called as a witness in Scooter Libby’s trial, even though Rove is a key part of the narrative. Shuster notes that this is done when prosecutors want to “leave open the possibility of later charging that particular subject in a separate case.”

1. This must be why Rove got a little demotion last week...
Oh, the poor Master of Evil...indicted.

Looks like the administration anticipates his indictment. I knew there was no way in hell
that Rove would be demoted without good reason.

They think they're so damn smart, don't they? Do they actually believe that demoting Rove will lessen the blow? How will they spin this, "Karl Rove! OHhhhh...He's mopping up floors here! His indictment is no big deal! We demoted him long ago! Nothing to see, folks."

Nimrods.

3. I was more interested in what they demoted him TO--running the
Republican Congressional campaigns. Would Republican candidates WANT Rove managing things, at this point? I think many would rather have Osama bin Laden running their campaigns.

More than anything, it made me think that he was going to be indicted--that his boss (having heard an earful from Republicans) knew he wasn't going to be running those camaigns anyway. And IF he is going to be indicted, what the hell is Bush doing giving him ANY position? Way back during Katrina, I thought some kind of pardon negotiation was going on between Rove and Bush. (Remember, when Bush was out there in the news jungle all on his own, getting caught on camera eating cake, etc., while people were dying on rooftops? I figured Rove was on strike--and that, behind the scenes, what was going on had to do with the Fitzgerald investigation. Rove later dropped a newsturd that he was in the hospital during Katrina. Right.) Anyway, will Rove be Bush's fall guy, as Libby is Cheney's? Will these two continue blockading Fitzgerald's path to the real perps?

Funny remark, though--upthread--that his actual role in the White House, lo these many years, will be that of the floor mopper, should he be indicted.

5. Yes, it seems Bush has been "on his own" since Katrina.
Before Rove got "Fitzitis", Bush's doofus image seemed to get even worse. I think you're right: Rove is on strike behind the scenes & the plan is for him to be the fall guy -- I believe, though, that Bush is in for a big surprise in regard to his own fate by Fitzgerald. Btw, I'd like to think that all the speaking out by the military generals was a show of support for Fitzgerald's cause.

4. I love what Fitzgerald said during the press conference for
the Ryan verdict, something to the effect that they (prosecutors) aren't afraid to go after corrupt public service officials no matter how high up they are. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the exact quote anywhere.

6. Will Bush wait until Rove is indicted, tried, convicted, or jailed before
he fires him?
