Hoosier war Republicans unflinching when it comes to Iraq
Hoosier war Republicans unflinching when it comes to Iraq
By Brian Howey

Indiana’s top tier of the Republican establishment is refusing to cower in the face of a bloody and apparently unending war in Iraq and the deeply sagging poll numbers that come with it. Not Sen. Dick Lugar. Not Gov. Mitch Daniels. Not U.S. Reps. Mike Pence, Mike Sodrel and Chris Chocola, the latter two who might pay the price of staying the course with their jobs this coming fall.

President Bush’s job-approval rating slipped for the third consecutive month to 35 percent in the Harris poll, 36 percent in Gallup. The Gallup congressional generic numbers are 52 percent Democratic, 42 percent Republican. Those are scary numbers for politicians.

Hoosier leaders delved deeply into war this past week, with Gov. Daniels spending Easter morning in Baghdad, where he re-enlisted some Indiana National Guardsmen to new six-year stints.

Hours later on ABC’s “This Week” in an unprecedented appearance with Sen. Evan Bayh, Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Richard Lugar defended President Bush and his handling of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

“For the time being, he has indicated Secretary Rumsfeld is going to be our secretary and that’s the call,” Lugar said.

7. I'm sure you have facts to back that statement, right?
Or are you just talking out of your ass?

9. OK, bring on those KKK membership statistics.
I'm not saying that your statement, "Indiana: biggest KKK membership of any state", couldn't possibly be true, but I like to see how that conclusion was reached.

11. So you ARE talking out of your ass.
No big deal, it happens all the time. I’ve been known to call * a drunk and a coke addict. Although I believe this to be true, I can’t back it up. Now when I call him a war criminal and a traitor to this country I can site evidence.

When discussing Indiana we could say:

A large number of racist assholes live in Indiana.
-- Damn straight. I’ve had to deal with them all my life.

Klan members, at one time, dominated Indiana state government.
-- That was unfortunately true, eighty years ago.

Indiana is a republican state.
-- Yes and no. They currently dominate state government as they do on the federal level and we are reliably red in the skewed world of electoral votes but we also have a long history of democratic governors and senators and usually give them a good fight in the state house.

Republicans = Racists
-- I suspect this to be true but I’m not prepared to offer proof.

“Indiana: biggest KKK membership of any state.”
-- You say fact. I say bullshit. Don’t expect me to research your point.

12. No reply? Lame elehhhhna, very lame.
I can only speculate on why you haven’t defended your statement:

1) You’re working diligently to find some sort of evidence to back your assertion.

2) You’re trying to come up with another one-line, non-answer like “if you'd like to see that, google it.”

3) You’re too busy posting “facts” that you can’t defend on other threads.

4) You know you’re wrong and ignoring me is easier than admitting your mistake.

Maybe you should apply for a job with Fox News elehhhhna. You seem to have the same grasp of “facts” that they do.

Along with Mitch Daniels. Mike Pence, Mike Sodrel and Chris Chocola. I hope they all go down in flames.

3. Sounds like Boehner's reigning in his peeps!
Within days of getting the nod, he was talking about strategy in the upcoming election. Specifically, whether or no distancing themselves from Bush was a good idea.

According to Boehner, to do so would be "a mistake" and he tried to claim Democrats lost seats by distancing themselves from Clinton. He refused to acknowledge the difference in approval ratings. LOL!

5. What happened to those Republicans
who put America before party, who even put party before a dropping like rocks president?(like the ones in 1974, who told Nixon to take a hike or he was on his own?)
