Herbert: Must-see Iraqumentary on HBO this month
Via Buzzflash:

"Baghdad ER" is going to tell us right in the comfort of our living rooms that there is really horrible stuff going on over there in Iraq, and whether we think this is a good war or a bad war, we need to be paying closer attention to the human consequences.

2. In first few moments, see amputated arm thrown away...
That's in the first paragraph, and what the remaining dumbfucks who support Bush need to see. It's not just a difference of opinion--their ignorance is dismembering and killing people.

In the first few moments of the documentary film "Baghdad ER," we see a man dressed in hospital scrubs carrying a bloodied arm that has been amputated above the elbow. He deposits it in a large red plastic bag.

3. 90% survival rate sounds good
and is a tribute to our medical personnel and technology, but probably means that more severely maimed are being saved. And with benefits being cut, the maimed are probably in for bad times. As Eric Bogle put it, on this same subject, "Never knew there were worse things than dying".

:cry::cry::cry:

4. In the past, a lot more of the injured would have died.

5. Yeah, that's what I was tryin to say
thte total number of dead + maimed is probably about the same, but modern medicine has enabled the doctors to keep more alive. Good & bad, I fear.
