Soros 's money vs. Bush
"It's incredibly ironic that George Soros is trying to create a more open society by using an unregulated, under-the-radar-screen, shadowy, soft-money group to do it," Republican National Committee spokeswoman Christine Iverson said.

Doesn't look under-the-radar to me. I think she must be thinking of someone else.

2. A very interesting article
I have so far heard nothing to sway me from my belief that Soros is "da man".

Some more from the article:

Soros said he had been waking at 3 a.m., his thoughts shaking him "like an alarm clock." Sitting in his robe, he wrote his ideas down, longhand, on a stack of pads. In January, PublicAffairs will publish them as a book, "The Bubble of American Supremacy" (an excerpt appears in December's Atlantic Monthly). In it, he argues for a collective approach to security, increased foreign aid and "preventive action."

Looks like another NY Times bestseller from the left! I can't wait!

4. Its funny how
republicans raise hundreds of millions of dollars and when the dems. try and catch up its somehow not "kosher". I think the campaign laws should require that the candidtaes spend no more than a certain amount of money regardless of whether they accept federal matching funds.

6. Why didn't she say something like
"If George Soros is trying, as he says, to create a more open society, then why isn't he donating to the Republican party?"
Just the fact that she takes umbrage at the attempt to create a more open society, and openly signals her umbrage (and her opposition to the attempt) speaks worlds about the Republican National Committee.
Next up: the RNC issues a position paper describing the advantages of a closed society. Karl Popper must be spinning in his grave.

7. jSoros is offering matching funds
for every buck you donate to MoveOn, he'll pop in another half buck. Sounds to me like, unlike Repugs, this man is interested in getting the little people involved.

8. this is absolutely, hypocritically RIDICULOUS!!!
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 08:39 PM by ithacan
The US, via the National Endowment for Democracy and other front groups, pours MILLIONS OF DOLLARS into electoral campaigns in other countries!

Soros knows what he's talking about. Bush is endangering democracy not only in the US, but globally. He's undoing what Soros has been working toward at a global level.

F*** the RNC!
