NYTime's David Brooks critiques Kevin Phillip's American Theocracy |
|
in a May 4, 2006 editorial, which in my local paper was titled 'Paranoid politics and conspiracy fantasies' but titled 'Paranoid style' in the NYTimes.
To make a long article short, Brooks discounts Phillip's use of historical facts to then back up his main arguments, and then returns to his premise that anything a guy like Phillips says has got to be paranoid and the product of a conspiracy theory.
As an example, Brooks mentions that Phillips says that "the Reverend Sun Myung Moon 'has been close to the Bush family'"
Uh, Mr. Brooks...Rev. Moon IS close to the Bush family. Do they have fact checkers at the NYTimes ? You'd think that after Jayson Blair and Judy Miller and now with David Brooks on board they'd hire at least one. Go figure.
Oh, but Brooks will call me a 'paranoid liberal conspiracy theorist'. If that's the right's best shot they're better off not taking it.

1. yreah, David, we BELIEVE RevMoon gained control of half the US fishing |
|
industry ON HIS OWN.
We BELIEVE that RevMoon was let off the hook at congressional hearings in the 70s ON HIS OWN MERIT, not the interference of Poppy Bush who vouched for Moon as an intelligence asset.
We BELIEVE that RevMoon started a DC newspaper just so he could share the facts with the American public and never intended to be used as a propaganda tool for the Bush agenda.
We BELIEVE that Bush employed all those Moonies in the WH for his faith-based initiative because they EARNED their positions.
We BELIEVE, David, because we are Moonies - BushMoonies - just like you.

7. Moon also held the prayer breakfast when Bush was inaugurated in 2001. |
|
Moon also bought up all the land above the world's largest aquifer in South America.

4. The kool-aid addled Brooks must get his inspiration to attack Libruls |
|
from his paycheck at the Times. No one in their "right mind" (pun definitely intended) can continue to support Bush when confronted with what the man says and what the man does. Truthiness, whether it comes from Colbert or now throught the writings of Kevin Phillips, really hurts these guys.
Who'da thought Vulcans could be sooooo sensitive !

5. david brooks can't stand the fact that the frat boys |
|
have failed.
it doesn't have to be a big ol'conspiracy, david.
these people really do all KNOW each other -- have similar interests.
attended the same colleges and universities.
know each others children -- go to their weddings.
some belong to the same country clubs.
see each other at restaurants.
their wives or husbands know each other independent of professional relationships.
why is it so hard for you to believe, david, that conservatives would work in concert for goals that they perceive mutually beneficial?

6. You nailed it - he can't stand that his side is being exposed as FRAUDS |
|
and conmen, and so anyone who has worked to expose them is a target.
