Slashdot.com reports BBV failure: e-voting glitch 19,000 Voters, 144,000.. |
|
http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/03/11/12/1320208.shtml?tid=103&tid=126&tid=99How come this particular story doesn't indicate which candidate the extra votes were for? Why isn't the manufacturer of the machine named? Why no statement from the unnamed manufacturer? The candidates? With yet another complete failure of this system, how come the criticism is so mild outside of the DU?

1. An overvote of between 125000 and 139000 in 19000 person district |
|
Shades of California - where we are told it was all those folks hitting the wrong square because it was next to a real canidiates square.
And in Virginia where tests indicate that the machine shows your vote - and as you leave the booth it deletes it in one out of every hundred votes.
And somehow there is no pattern - and no need for a paper trail that might show the pattern.
Can't have fraud with no paper trail - so all is well in GOP land (House paper trail bill has 66 co-sponsors - and not one is GOP!).

2. At last! They have the quote I was trying to remember |
|
From Blackadder the Third:
Vincent Hanna: One voter; 16,472 votes. A slight anomaly...?
Edmund: Not really, Mr. Hanna -- you see, Baldrick may look like a monkey who's been put in a suit and then strategically shaved, but he is a brilliant politician. The number of votes I cast is simply a reflection of how firmly I believe in his policies.
No prizes for who I thought it applied to these days ...
