ABCNews: Bush Presidency Floundering
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=1940034&page=1

May 9, 2006— Things are looking worse and worse for President Bush who said after he was re-elected in 2004 that he had political capital and intended to spend it.

...

"The fear is that people are looking at this guy and saying he's a failed president."

1. It's hard to ignore the obvious even if you have as much
practice at it as ABC

Could it be the truth they find so easy to ignore or pass by?

3. he's a failed president.
uh, DUH! :eyes:

Took'em long enough. I could have saved the myself and millions of other Americans and people around the world a great deal of heartache, because I knew in 2000 that, if elected, he would be a failure. How did I know that? Well, he's FAILED at everything he's ever done. I think it's a pretty safe bet.

8. We knew Bush would be a disaster.
I really didn't think he would mess the country up this bad though.

I hope the people are never stupid enough to put the republicans in charge again.

But of course, after a generation, everybody forgets. If not sooner.

9. Everything the guy touched prior to his presidency turned to shit.
Why would anyone expect "finding Jesus" would turn his business sense around?

At least most of here were smart enough to see that 6 years ago.

25. and how do we get out of this cycle?
Republican president sacks the treasury. To keep from going bankrupt, Democrat comes in and cleans up the mess. Result: unpopular Democratic president.

We are going through the cycle right now in NJ. Corzine is attempting to clean up Whitman's mess and his popularity ratings are a low.

34. He's succeeded at failing.
He'll probably go down in history with all sorts of records--of the negative kind.

What kind of hubris gives a person, knowing that he's failed repeatedly, the idea that he could be a good president? Or does he not know that he's ever failed? Does being a Bush mean "not having to say you are sorry" (and admit you've screwed anything up)?

24. Check this out:
"(Bay Buchanan) said if House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi continued to appear on TV and talk about impeachment hearings and investigating the Republican leadership, she would turn people off because she was out of touch."

I saw her on Russert on Sunday morning, and despite Tim's smarmy attempts at goading her into attacking Bush, she explicitly said impeachment is not an issue. Matthews is trying to do the same thing. That's inconvenient for Republicans, so what do they do? Pretend they got the answer they'd rather have, instead of the answer they got.

F@$%ing creeps.

It's a solid platform plank that will help us take back Congress.

33. What was it they said..?
How many times did they say "We feel Bush's low popularity rating has bottomed out and will soon begin to rise..." Hahaha, seriously, how many times was that said? It's been since after the war started and 6 month intervals since then. Is this another one of those times? Has it bottomed out again, boys? Are we going to scream Lazarus soon? Yeah, riiigghht.
