OK You Right Wing Lemmings…Define “Liberal” |
|
Snip: “YOU!…you just called me a name….you just called me a liberal…what does the word liberal mean; what aspects of liberalism do you find to be negative and what did I say that made you identify me as a liberal?” - The person who called me the name stood silent. I'll bet it's mostly fiction, but good stuff.

100% true. And I left out some things at that. I don't write fiction. Hundreds of people were watching.

I'm always wary of I-just-told-off-a-neo-con stories posted on Internet forums. Usually, its the fantasies of a would-be activist. Of course, there's always exceptions. Thanks for getting out there. :hi:

8. Well done...now I have a request |
|
You did an excellent job of exposing the herd mentality of conservatives, may I ask you to tackle another thing that irritates the bejesus out of me? In speeches, and in print, it has become a very common practice for Republicans to misuse our party's name. For example, they will refer to "the Democrat Party", rather than the Democratic Party.
It has become more and more common for the noun to be used rather than the adjective. Since this is a fairly recent trend, the people who do this have to know that it's wrong, because for so many years the correct word was used. It is a sign of disrespect, a way to show their arrogance and feelings of superiority. Tom DeLay did it a lot. Maybe if all of liberals...and I'm proud to be a liberal, by the way... we should all began to refer to them as the "Republic Party." If we did this over and over, in thousands of posts, until they began to shriek their objections, it might lead them to go back to the proper usage. It's time for the Republic Party to act like adults, instead of the spoiled brats they are.

6. I asked my right wing mother to define liberal, |
|
she came up with similar things: liberals are weak on crime (but it's ok if Ken Lay gets off), liberals want big government (honestly, it was all I could do to not laugh in her face when she said that!), liberals won't enforce border control (& the republicans have done such a good job at that!), liberals will raise taxes (someone's got to pay off that damned credit card that boosh over charged on. She lamented the liberal influence of the last 40 years. That really pissed me off! I didn't care that it was Mother's Day. I reminded her that liberals put in place labor laws, on-the-job safety standards, electrification of rural America, Medicare, social security, national parks, environmental standards, & on & on. Then I told her it burned me that she vilified liberals whenever she could while reaping the benefits of programs & policies that liberals put in place. "Conservatives helped with those programs, too, you know." :banghead:
There are none so blind . . .

7. After being harassed by phone (at 3am on several occasions) |
|
I had a nice little discussion with a local police officer about the situation.
Basically, he disagreed with my LTTE, which called Bush a coward. He said that he met Bush (presumably when Bush had the town under lockdown), and that he was a very nice guy. (humph . . . is a "nice guy" a good qualification to run a country?)
I would love to ask that cop NOW how he felt about a person who violated the law and bragged about it on national TV . . . and had sworn ON A BIBLE to defend the Constitution . . .
