Marc Holtzman believes he'd be on the GOP primary ballot as a candidate for Colorado governor today but for sinister forces in the party establishment. They turned Saturday's state convention into a marathon fiasco, he suggested Monday on KHOW radio, driving some delegates into the street before they had a chance to vote.
Holtzman says he fell 70 votes shy of the 30 percent needed for a primary spot (71 by my calculator), and that at least that number of his supporters abandoned the World Arena in Colorado Springs rather than wait till the bitter end to cast a ballot.
And perhaps they did. But so what?
If the convention had gone like clockwork and all 3,601 delegates with credentials had stayed to vote, Holtzman would have needed 1,080 to qualify for the primary. As it turns out, he received 902 votes of 3,244 cast.

I just finished reading the deadtree version, and thought it was very delightful article, because both Beauprez and Holtzman are fighting, and truly dividing the Repukes to choosing which one, and Colorado already has a Democratic challenger, Bob Ritter, while anti-choice, has a decent chance of winning this one!
