PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS: THE ADMINISTRATION THAT WON'T STOP LYING

The Republican Party has been reduced to one principle -- its own power. It protects the Bush regime from accountability and covers up its lies and misdeeds. Under the myths and lies that enshroud 9-11, the Democrats have collapsed as an opposition party.

The Bush regime has destroyed Iraq without being able to defeat the resistance. Its greater casualty, however, is the American people, voiceless with no political representation, defenseless in the face of police state depredations, such as illegal warrantless surveillance, and the possibility of property seizures and indefinite detention without charges.

The Bush regime's war on terror has defeated truth and the constitutional protections of liberty in the United States. No conceivable number of Muslim terrorists could inflict comparable damage on America.

3. More like: GWB can't stop lying.
He is inherently unable to tell the truth. He's a sociopath. He'll lie even when he doesn't have to.

7. So true
Just look at the "7-Lb perch story". Or the "I saw that plane hit the first tower on TV" or "Saddam wouldn't let the inspectors in"

All barefaced lies of varying degrees of importance. But he wasn't compelled to make any of those statements. He voluteered them.

Or maybe he's got no memory retention at all or never understood the issues properly in the first place.

Either way, someone like that has no business being NEAR the White House, not even on an afternoon tour.

5. I've always said -
that a government which tortures people on foreign soil, will soon turn to its own people and do the same thing.

Because they do not differentiate between a foreign 'threat' and a 'domestic' threat. WE will soon become the threat to Bush and his minions.

Thanks for posting.

to erect "protest pens" or practice "preventitive arrests" to stife dissent or violate our First Amendment Rights.

12. Lying Bush in the Shitehouse
A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter
answered,"Those are Lie-Clocks.

Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?" "That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?" St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's Bush's clock?" asked the man.

"Bush's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

13. Really sums it up
In the rush to simplicity on the staggering record of the regime, he might have left one wrong impression. Bush went to war in Afghanistan to get into Iraq, but that was not his first intention. It is doubly clear that Afghanistan only happened first first because Blair and thence the international community would hop on board only for doing Afghanistan first. Only Blair then intended to go along with the obtuse goal of Iraq.

What became painfully obvious- one did not need to wait for retrospect- was that the entire model of the Afghan campaign was based on the coming Iraq campaign. The real goal became the gas pipeline and an American puppet in place for those corporate goals. The use of allies was relegated to policing the aftermath. Nothing was done to unify or pacify the complex situation. They have lived with that so, expecting a friendlier welcome in Iraq, they figured on, living with the mess there and never swerve from their energy and geopolitical goals(geopolitical goals wildly off base for true American interests).

In one sense it is also as simple as saying that, for example, a regime headed by ex Coca-Cola officials that it might not come as any surprise that the chief priorities of military action seem to amazingly include setting up Coke machines in all new territories and the building of processing plants and demolition of competitors. Energy monopolies are not so trite or essential but in making the comparison, all ideologies and parties can see what a devastating error has been made in trusting the oily Bushes and Halliburton Cheney in being PNAC warlords. There is no breadth, no focus, no dedication, no compromise with any other interest for this Coup Regime. People falling on their swords for all other interests, good or bad, has merely revealed the Heavenly Suckderdom of America for all its own limitations.

Not to prolong that discussion, but the brainwashing etc. is the result of a sublimely illegal and ill focused one way street WH leadership that has led the way for all other others with fatally murky eyesight to follow a myopic loon over a cliff, dragging the world behind them. The parable "Can a blind man lead blind men? Will not all fall over a cliff?" was meant to have an obvious answer. The real irony is that those who have ears to hear will not hear the question for what it is. Those who best understand the question know it is a threat and that is why the Questioner was killed. The rest of us continue to believe our bad eyesight and crippled understanding is not that bad and pay no attention to our peril.
