Mourning in America - Editorial from a Repub about bush* honoring soldiers
<http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/19/opinion/19ROBE.html>

snip> When a subsequent Pentagon review faulted Marine commanders in Beirut for lax security, the president shouldered the blame. "I took the full responsibility," he wrote in his memoir. "I was the one who had sent them there."

For that reason alone, it is time for President Bush to honor the dead.

comparing bush* and the way he is ignoring our dead soldiers to "St Ron".

2. Wow, check out Italy, - courage

Not likely to see our soldiers respected like this, unless it's local news only.

3. Maybe...
II'm wondering if perhaps the reason why Bush isn't attending these things is two-fold:

a.) fear of assassination
b.) the new levels of security around the president are SO high that their presence would be disruptive to the service and those who are mourning.

With that said, I would not excuse him. I think reason a is a pansy reason, and reason b derives from reason a.

5. So, prior to October 2001 (when we started attacking Afghanistan),
why did he never go out amongst his fanbase (a la Bill Clinton driving the Secret Service nuts) and press the flesh with the adoring public?

Afraid somebody might ambush him with an actual question.

Remember, we liberals are the ones without the guns. We don't want to assassinate anybody.

McVeigh was doing stuff which reeked of Repuke.
