Ahead of his time

What's the big deal about infamous torturer/ex-Chicago police officer Jon Burge? So he electrified the genitals of a few suspects. So he hit some of them with phone books. So his techniques were so vicious he was able to secure confessions out of completely innocent people.

The media are portraying Burge as some sort of bad guy when he was merely a trend-setting visionary. Burge was torturing before the Bush administration made torturing cool (and legal). He was brutalizing prisoners in the '70s and '80s, well before W and his crew declared torture constitutional. Now you can't blame a guy just because he had Nostradamus-like prescience as to where our country was headed. He was just a smidgen premature with the rubber hoses.

Hell, I'll bet with all the reports, headlines and media attention detailing Burge's depraved behavior, he probably has a pretty good job lined up at Bush's Justice Department already. His resume is just jam-packed with all the qualities Bush is looking for.
