(Elizabeth)Edwards emerges from cancer with grace

Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former Democratic vice presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. John Edwards, says in a new book that she survived a harrowing battle with advanced breast cancer last year that left her too depleted for public appearances.

Largely out of the public eye since her husband's loss to the Bush-Cheney ticket in 2004, Edwards describes in a forthcoming autobiography how she endured months of grueling treatment in early 2005. The treatment included chemotherapy, surgery and radiation with side effects, including nausea, loss of hair and nerve damage in her hand that made it difficult to write.

"The cancer seems to be gone," she writes in the book, "Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength From Friends and Strangers," scheduled for publication Sept. 26 by Broadway Books. The book will have an initial printing of more than 100,000 copies.

5. I'll probably order from B&N since they are more Blue
And besides there's a local supermarket chain in my town that sells B&N gift cards that count towards getting money off at the gas pump.

I wish them the best and hope someday to see them living in "the people's house(WH)" for 8 years! January 20th, 2009 sounds about right. What a wonderful First Family they would make! I'm going to make sure to get her book!

BTW just found out John has a book coming out in November.

What do Steven Spielberg, Charles Barkley and Bob Dole have in common?

Their boyhood homes are all featured in former U.S. Sen. John Edwards' new book, "Home: The Blueprints of Our Lives," which is due out in November.

Edwards' book will not only deal with the humble mill house where he first lived in Seneca, S.C., but with the homes of other prominent people.

Among those who will share photographs and recollections of their childhood homes are such people as Gen. Tommy Franks, John Glenn, Maya Lin, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mellencamp.

Edwards will use the book to launch a 50-city radio campaign, a 10-city national television campaign with personal appearances in New York; Washington; North Carolina; South Carolina; Memphis and Nashville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky; Boston; Austin, Texas; Chicago; Milwaukee; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Seattle; and Atlanta, according to the publisher, HarperCollins.
